In the end, the wireless speed is as fast as the wired speed would be. It works great in an apartment. Cons: Original was dead on arrival. Other Thoughts: The first one I received was defective. This took up 3 hours of my time & 9 days of waiting, when you factor in trouble shooting on my own, chatting and speaking with Linksys support, filling out an RMA, chatting with newegg to get a pre-paid shipping label, and then taking the item to UPS. For a router over $100, I expected an item that wasn't defective. On the bright side, Linksys support (although outsourced) was very easy going and polite and newegg processed the return and replacement in under 10 days.
