My grandchildren (ages 5 through 11) have read and reread it. The photographs of the children's rooms tell a story in themselves and the text contributes even more. They feel privileged when reading about the lives of many of of the children and are critical of the have-it-all children who are also pictured. BUT because my dog loved to lye on it so much it got dirty and had to was it. The colors completely faded. It looked awful, cheap, and more dirty than before I washed it. I was incredibly disappointed. I ended up having to just throw it away. I went to the store and they were all sold out, I liked it so much I wanted another one and was going to be careful with it. I bought another print that I didn't like as much. Same thing happened, my dog loved it and it needed to be washed. That one did fine. Didn't fade at all. It was the yellow flower print that's not online any more. So it may depend on each individual rug, but if you plan on having a lot of foot traffic on it be very careful if you need to wash it.See less
