Wow! I seriously LOVE Dani’s new kit, It’s Elementary! It is simply GORGEOUS! This weekend, I whipped up some fun teacher gifts that we will take to “Meet the Teacher” tomorrow night. I figure a little buttering up can never hurt, right?? And, who wouldn’t like to receive this? Here are a few more pictures: I simply took a can of fruit with a pull-top opening and opened it from the BOTTOM with a can opener. You want to make sure the pull-top is still intact and unopened. After I washed and prepped the can with a little brown paint, I adhered the paper to the can (I used red-line tape, but most any adhesive would work). I stuffed it with fun goodies (chocolate, anyone?) and red crumpled paper filler and hot glued the bottom back on to the can. When the teacher opens the top and empties it, then she can use the can as a pencil holder/desk organizer/etc. Our school is very big into recycling and I thought this would be PERFECT! And, you don’t need to add the extra width to the spine measurement. Here the fabric wraps around atop the covers, rather than showing beneath. * Iron the edges of the ribbon under so the edges don’t fray. * Cover the back, edge to edge, with Super Tacky Tape. * Adhere to edges of covers, being careful to leave room for your spine. I made small pencil marks on both covers to help line up my ribbon. * Cover the inside--this time using book cloth tape. * Trim excess, fold and you’re done! * Because the inside pages aren’t attached to the cover use a ribbon or elastic band to hold it all together. I think my brain has a leak in it. No, seriously, I do. That is the only explanation I have for being gift-giving impaired. Ok, actually I can buy gifts and I even put a lot of thought into what I am giving. The problem comes into play when it is 15 minutes before I have to give said gift to the intended. I have the gift, but inevitably I am missing either the card or the gift bag. I always have one of these items, but never both. That would be too easy. Thank goodness I can use my scrapbooking supplies to make cards, and recently I discovered that I could also make my own gift bags. To create a customized gift bag, follow these easy steps. The Supplies * 2 sheets of matching 12”x12” patterned paper (This is a great way to use up out-of-style paper.) * 4 large eyelets * Approximately 24 inches of ribbon * An adhesive runner or double-sided tape * Chipboard * A box (Any box will do. Step 1. Create your calendar pages digitally. Step 2. Print and cut your pages. Step 3. Recycle a cardboard box (I have used a diaper box). Peel of any packaging or covering sheet to show a little of the corrugated board underneath (optional). Step 4. Fold the piece of cardboard into a triangle and secure with double sided tape. Step 5. Punch holes through the top. You can do them all at once if you have a crop-a-dile, or if one is not available, mark the hole placement and do one hole at the time. Step 6. Embellish your pages (optional, but oh so fun!) all done :) A couple of remarks: •When creating your digital pages, don't forget to include plain paper or "paint" under your text to improve readability, especially when using patterned paper. •I have printed this project on double sided matte paper so there is print on both sides of the calendar page. •I do not recommend the addition of ribbons to the rings of this project because it would make it too hard to flip the pages every... 1. Choose your chipboard and paper 2. If you are doing a book, take the book apart. Choose which papers will cover which pages. 3. Trace the letter shape onto paper with your pencil, and cut the shape out with scissors. 4. Cover the shape with adhesive. For projects going into scrapbooks use the Scotch Glue Stick. For projects like books that will be handled a great deal use Scotch Tacky Adhesive. or 5. Place the paper onto the chipboard and use the brayer to smooth out all the glue lines, and move the adhesive all the way to the edge. If you get bubbles or glue lines in your chipboard projects it somes from one of two things..you are using the wrong adhesive or you are not using a brayer. I like to keep a wet wipe handy when doing these projects. I can use it to wipe up any excess glue, and keep my brayer clean. If you look at the back of the chipboard you'll see a white edge...that is where the paper is too long. To clean up my edges and give my book a perfect look I use our sanding... See less

When I created the Quickpages for Twinkle I was thinking about doing a little 4x4 baby keepsake. I did it today and it took me only 15 minutes!!!! So I decided to do a step by step here :) First, print your 6 pages in 4X4 size, it fits 6 in one A4 sheet (yay for saving paper) Then get a sheet of 12X12 cardstock and cut a 4X12 strip. Also cut all your pages to size (good to have a guillotine, but you can do it by hand since it is only 4X4) If you have a scoring tool, it is best to score your paper every 4 inches. Or else you can just fold it by hand. Adhere your pages with double sided tape or glue (easy on the glue!) Voila! You have your little keepsake! Alex already took this one from me, and I was very happy he wanted to have it at work!!! It is also a relieve to know I can quickly create something like that for a friend. One for the birthday girl and one for her older sister, so she wouldn’t feel left out :) Have a look: The fun part in this project was playing with the embellishments. I added my usual overload of buttons (LOL can you tell I love buttons?). But I also cut up a piece of paper into a scalloped strip and then stapled ribbon on to it.... FUN!!! Supply List: CD Crop-a-Dile or a small drill to put a hole in the CD Suction Cup Hook thingy (my very technical term for something I have no idea what the real name is) Modge Podge Some fun digi papers, elements and alphas that coordinate with your kitchen. This past Sept/Oct my husband and I went on an unforgettable trip. We celebrated 10 years of marriage and decided to go into blissful debt and take a trip to numerous cities in Italy. Im so glad we did. We had the most glorious time and totally succeeded in what we wanted to achieve. We made dozens of amazing memories and I (in dutiful scrapbooking form) documented our memories with my camera. Not only did a take literally THOUSANDS of pictures, I also kept every receipt, train and plane ticket, etc. that I found in my hands. Having 1000s of photos and tons of travel ephemera is a lot to take in. Where do you start or more importantly HOW do you start? I must admit I barely looked at my uploaded photos in depth until this month. It was intimidating sorting through my photos and deciding which ones I wanted to print out.
