(10/13/08) One-off Leon Cupra, designed by Shakira, will help raise funds for her charity. The pop star revealed the car to world's media at the Berlin press conference, ahead of concert. The glamorous 'Hips-Don't-Lie' pop star, Shakira, has helped SEAT design a unique Leon Cupra as a competition prize, in order to raise money for her own charity. At a press conference in the Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin at the weekend officially kicking off her European tour SEAT and Shakira revealed the special Cupra that will benefit the star's charity, the Fundaci³n Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet Foundation). The car, aptly named the Leon Pies Descalzos, is immediately identifiable by its striking lilac metallic paint, a colour also highlighted on several details inside. In addition, the interior features part-leather trim incorporating the Pies Descalzos logo. This emblem also graces the B-pillar, while polished black paint is used on the Cupra's 18-inch alloy wheels. SEAT announced its partnership with Shakira...See less

(10/13/08) The Bugatti brand is one of the automotive industry's oldest marque's, and it has plans to make a public and very loud comeback with what could well be the fastest production car to ever hit the blacktop. After what seems like years of teasing us with prototypes, mock sketches and the odd mention of a 1001 brake horsepower engine, the Bugatti Veyron is finally finished and will be sold to European markets late in 2006, and America and Asia Pacific territories after that. While the Bugatti name is essentially Italian, Carlo Bugatti (father of Ettore Buggati) left Milan for France in 1904, and the marque has since built its cars in Molsheim, France. Today, the Bugatti name is owned by Volkswagen, and the new Veyron supercar has also been styled by the Germans, yet despite this many of the die-hard Bugatti fans are still pleased with the car's appearance. The Bugatti Veyron was formally announced as ready-to-go by Volkswagen in Monte Carlo recently. The automaker also released offical...See less

(10/13/08) Development of the vehicle began with the 1999 EB 18/3 "Veyron" concept car. Introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show, it was similar in design and appearance to the final Veyron production car. One major difference was the EB 18/4's use of a W18 engine with three banks of six cylinders. The Veyron was designed by Hartmut Warkuss of Volkswagen rather than Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign who had handled the three prior Bugatti concepts. VW chairman Ferdinand Piëch announced the production Veyron at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show. It was promised to be the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car in history. Instead of the W18, the production model would use a VR6/WR8-style W16 engine. First seen in the 1999 Bentley Hunaudières concept car, the W16 would get four turbochargers, producing a quoted 1001 horsepower (see engine section for details on the power output). Top speed was promised at 403 km/h (250.4 mph), and pricing was announced at €1 million (US$1.3 million at the time)....See less
