These fantastic vintage dead-stock signed Hobe necklaces feature 2.5" tennis rackets in gold or silver tone with a little pearl for a tennis ball. The necklace measures 18" from end to end. This necklace features an interesting clasp with a patent that was applied for in 1965. Given that information along with the Hobe mark and tennis motiff, I would place this necklace's production between the late sixties and early eighties. Hobe was founded by William Hobe' in 1927, after he came to the US from France. His father Jacques Hobe' had been a fine jewelry maker in Paris, who began making costume jewelry around 1887.
