The next layer is a large brass gear to which is mounted a four pronged silver cog and in the center of this cog is a small brass gear and then an even tinier brass gear only a few milimeters wide. This extremely unique pair from Bausch & Lomb features black Bakelite frames. The sides are vented with silver wire mesh. The lenses, of course, screw on and off. The left and right eyepiece are joined in the center with a camel colored adjustable leather strap and there is a leather nose flap. The lenses are perfect and the rubber adjustable head strap is pristine as well. These are very old goggles, however they are in the BEST CONDITION of any of this type of goggles that I've ever seen. One of the more remarkable achievements of the Steampunk Era, the aeroship was financed by the wealthy eccentric Baron Henry Balzerhaught, and unlike the planet earth airships of its day, was capable of exploring other planets within the solar system. The helmet is constructed of 5-6 oz top grain vegetable tanned cowhide, hand stitched and wet-formed. Based on earlier versions of firefighter’s helmets, the Firemaster’s helmet brim reflects the gryphon’s wings and tail (borrowing from the samurai). The top crest portrays the gryphon’s head made of cold cast bronze. The front plate is composed of two layers of leather, embossed, with cut out leaves, and with the gryphon logo gold leafed. I think they come from India. The green appliques are fabric from my dear departed grandmother who made hats for Blackwell in the fifties. She was a huge influence on my choice of careers. I ended up with a lot of her trim and am slowly incorporating it into my work. The size on this coat is a small long. The waist is 26 inches and can expand out a little. Its got long arms. Good for a beanpole type of gal. The front is very open and looks spectacular with a corset underneath. This coat is a one of a kind. Please feel free to ask questions.See less
