I did a great deal of due dilligence before this purchase and I am glad i did, this 42 inch LG not only blows the competetion away but is very comparable to both the sony and samsung yet at a much lower cost. I got my set on sale at circuit city for $1019and with the $300 off that direct TV was offering it was a no brainer. The way standard DVD's look on my upconvert DVD player is incredible and the Direct TV HD chanels are out of this world, the only thing I thought would be better is the regular digital chanels on Direct TV don't look quite as good as I thought they would, but that might be the feed from direct TV and not the LG sets fault? I think that some of the previous reviewers that knocked the audio on this set must have had permanent hearing loss from the 100 watt stereos in their automobiles, because the audio on this set is great.
