I was fortunate to be invited to a private dinner at Hong Kong Flower Lounge last night hosted by owner Alice Wong to honor the Chef Mentors from the KTSF cooking competition www.ktsf.com/en/about/pr... . I'd really been looking forward to the evening as HKFL is one of my three favorite Cantonese joints in the Bay Area. Alice's other HKFL restaurants over the years have produced several of the most respected Cantonese chefs now running other important restaurants in the US, and I envisioned great platters of savory seafood and large schooners of beer being shared between the ethnically eclectic group of chef types.
