My translation to this was using different manipulations of "subtraction" like burn out And "addition" like embroidery and braiding.Various combination of these manipulations created pieces of image, feeling, and sensation.Through the shapes of these magical new materials an imagery of a human being was brought to life.The garment was created In this way, to become an image. An uncharacteristic, niche-interest and personal entry perhaps but it's a sufficiently significant development in our home life to report that we now have a trifold of chickens. That "secret design project" I've alluded to recently being the two-week's-to-build bespoke chicken coop; I like to think, designed in the Shaker style (although I fear I'm horribly deluded in this). I was all for naming them after type designers but my children pulled rank and have named them after (appropriately) Thunderbirds characters: Scott Tracey, Lady Penelope (a perfect chickeny name if I ever heard one) and The Hood. For anyone interested (is anyone interested?) they're ISA Browns, the Ford Escort of the chicken world and their gentle clucking is now the soundtrack to our little corner of suburbia. Estimates suggest we could be harvesting up to 300 eggs for breakfast, per be-colmed head, per annum. See less

While of course I think that's great—what he says here really stuck with me: "In a world of social networking and conversations among bloggers, consumers and everyone else, you don't advertise to them, you advertise with them. So companies have to design spaces--or politically ask to join existing networks--where people have a purpose to pursue (if only fun). Las Vegas is a prototype where people can network before, during and after an experience--going to Vegas baby! Think of creating these kinds of event social networks around weddings, graduations, bat mitzvahs, grandpas 90th and mom and dad's 50 wedding anniversary--any ceremonial event. Here at the Retrovert you'll find a large collection of vintage graphics that have been carefully restored and applied to new products like t-shirts, sweatshirts, posters, greeting cards, postcards, and coffee mugs. It's a joy to keep these designs alive. Some are breathtaking, especially the bold graphic works of some of the WPA artists, and some are a bit amusing from the vantage of our 21st century seats. The propaganda posters can take on whole new meanings, seventy years later. But we're not here to mock what looks dated and retro today; you need to view this, as you would any survivor, in the context of its time and place. The main page for each department has some information about the origin of the designs, and we hope you'll find that of interest.
