She is back with two fellow exercisers in this workout filmed on a beach in Mexico. This workout is about 30 minutes long and contains 3 segments. I would describe it as more of a toning video with pilates inspired movements. The first segment is more toning, you will see 3 giant sets of exercises, each performed slightly different. The first includes traditional bicep curls, side lateral raises for shoulders, then squats some of which include some of which include some standing ab work. The second set has more biceps, this time hammer curls, side lateral raises for shoulders but with a slightly different twist, and step squats. The third set has angled bicep curls, overhead presses and pulsing squats. (04/27/07) I have a ton of fitness videos, and picked this one up on a whim. I am SO glad I did! I was surprised at how efficient the entire program was.. it was fast moving, but I felt like my entire body was worked, and worked well. I almost gave up on Denise after her Burn Fat Fast video, which was frustrating in that it didn't provide a high intensity workout. I completed the entire program tonight, and it was FUN and not in a dancy, breezy way - but in a way that moved along without getting boring. Beginners will definitely get frustrated with this because it IS Denise, and her cueing is atrocious.. BUT if you exercise often, and are familar with a variety of moves you will catch on quickly. (04/27/07) I have quite a few Firm workouts. Although this one may be good for the beginning exerciser (they do show a modifier) or intermediate level, it is not challenging for the advanced exerciser. Additionally, the camera work is questionable; when there is a change to a power move, the camera is focused on the beginner modifier, so it takes a few steps to catch up to the main instructor when the camera shifts. It does require minimal equipment, 3, 5, 7 for the intermediate, and 5, 8, 10 for the advanced. The workout is broken into 3 sections, which are then broken up into two, 1 plyometric which includes minimal sculpting, and one companion cardio. I found the dip presses challenging due to the speed in which they are performed, and did enjoy the ab work which includes standing twisting (the latest rage for abs), but for the most part, I found myself watching the clock next to my television waiting for it to be over. I will not be working this into my regular rotation but it might be good...See less

Michael leads Carmen through all the exercises, bringing her a chair when needed and showing her how to do the exercises in the most effective way. At first I was disappointed that Carmen was not teaching the class, but technically they are both teaching because Carmen also makes comments throughout the workout. Then, after doing this workout I wanted to find additional Michael Carson workouts. I had no idea this workout would instantly become one of my all-time favorite workouts. I was very dissapointed after doing it, because it did not challenge me at all. I had expected so much more from this routine, that I thought it is a kind of joke, when Ana Caban said she's done at the end. I would rather recommand the 10 Min. Solution Pilates with Lara Hudson. If you do the whole hour of this, then you really get a great workout. I hope I can sell this DVD soon. I would only recommand it to someone, who is at a beginner level with doing Pilates. (04/27/07) I purchased a couple of the videos in this series, including this one. I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed in all of them. There wasn't much "new" here to keep me interested, and I found I was pretty bored. Each of the 30-minute workouts themselves are pretty intense, and definitely get your muscles burning, but the instructors do not break down any of the moves before they do them, and I found it difficult to figure out what they were going to do next. With practice, I guess this might get better. And the three 5-minute "mini-workouts" for abs, legs, and arms were good, but not long enough to really feel much of anything. As soon as I started to get into them, they were over! Again, I guess it might help to do these every day or something. (04/27/07) I purchased this video at Best Buy, because I thought the title was cute. Now, 2 months later, I have lost 15 pounds and gone down to a size 2 due to doing this video a few times a week. I have been looking for something quick and easy like this for years to get me in shape FAST. Before, them I was 5'6" and 140 lb., so all I really wanted was to tone up. In doing these videos, however, I got way more than I expected! I have all my friends hooked! The cardio workout has some serious calorie burning benefits- you can feel it working as you go. However, it's the scuplting workout that is worth its weight in gold- got rid of every single ounce of jiggle on my body! I seriously call this my secret weapon! Adv. Beg. to Int. Not for someone wanting to get in shape for a marathon, just someone who wants to look sporty and sleek. Kinda tough at first, but hang with it cuz its worth it! (04/27/07) As a new fan of Jari Love really enjoying her Ripped workout, I was excited to pick up her new workouts. This one is definitely more advanced and intense, lots of reps here. I am not used to this type of training as I generally do higher weight/lower rep workouts like the Firm and others, so I was wasted the first time I did this one, had to go majorly light on the weights too. Jari is joined by Laurie and Krista, who were in the first Ripped workout along with Brian. The transformations that Laurie and Krista have made since Ripped are quite inspiring. You will need some dumbells for this workout, barbells and plate weights are also used by some of the participants. This workout contains 12 tracks including warmup and stretch, each track has it's own song. There is a preview for each exercise so you know what's coming, plus they show each exercisers weight load plus display the number of reps that will be performed. I found this quite helpful. (04/27/07) I agree with what some others have said about this not truly being a step workout. I still really like it though. There is a 9 minute warm-up (even though on the back of the DVD, it says 6 minutes) in addition to the 3 main segments (Segment 1 is 16 mins, Segment 2 and 3 are 10 mins each) and a 5 minute cool down. So it is a nice long workout. The first segment is the one that is a true step workout. The second is mostly squats. The third is on the floor. So what I often do to make it a full step workout is to do the warm-up, do the first segment twice, then do the second segment, and either stop there or go on to segment 3. The music is pretty yucky in spots; but you can get used to it and not really notice how icky it is. And if your opinion of Kathy Smith is similar to mine then you will find her a little annoying in this DVD like in others. But she's less goofy-cheerleader in this DVD than in some others.
