When Terry Satchell was ready to go after his bachelor's degree in nursing, he didn't actually have to go anywhere. Satchell became the first graduate of Chesapeake College's nursing program to complete Villa Julie College's Easton-based Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in December. Satchell, a nurse at The Memorial Hospital at Easton, was part of a four-student class that completed their VJC coursework through a Chesapeake College distance-learning classroom located at the Easton hospital. "It was really convenient," said Satchell, noting the Easton quartet was connected with eight other VJC students in a Baltimore-based distance-learning lab. During his tour in Kenya, Ambassador Bellamy directed U.S. counter-terrorism programs in the Horn of Africa. He also supervised the United States government’s largest foreign HIV/AIDS program and led multi-national efforts to combat corruption and promote good governance in Kenya. This line of research is important since a number of these traits have been shown to be related to high-level achievement, gender differences in mathematics and science ability and achievement, and even long-term social-emotional adjustment. Cognitive learning styles (defined as "consistencies in the unique manner that a learner acquires and processes information"), in particular, have been widely discussed and researched in an attempt to understand whether gifted and talented students learn differently than other students, or respond differently to particular teaching styles. It’s important to realize that no assessment can tell you your one best career choice. Rather, assessments aim to open up new options for further exploration. Although career assessments are designed for validity, results can only be as accurate as you are. On many assessments, if you answer even a few questions inaccurately, you will get wrong results and recommendations. It is wise to take more than one career assessment. You will get a much better picture of your interests, preferences and values, and your career suggestions will be more true to you. If two or three assessments give you similar results, you can feel confident that you are identifying your “real” self and appropriate careers for you. Assessments deal in categories.
