Going through a Amazon.com search for other CD's I came across this CD and the cover and artwork of this 'Tell Your Friends' album stoodout for me and I knew I had to purchase it. I was instantly impressed with the first song 'You Know How I Do' which is superbly grunge rock in style. TBS is a group of teen guys who have formed a good band to sing about teenage drama angst and problems protracting to teenagers today. Whilst I am no longer a Teenager the lyrics still are important for me in my personal work life as I deal with kids and feel that music gives these teens the outlet they need. Another interesting song and quite good infact is the album and video version of 'Cute Without The E', simply the best song on the album. (08/12/07) Taking Back Sunday-Where You Want To Be **** Where You Want To Be is Taking Back Sundays best album. While I am not big on the whole emo trip that the rest of the world seems to be stuck on I will say that Taking Back Sunday is a truly great band. Their lyrics are great and they're performances are great. While musically Taking Back Sunday is nothing to qawk serperatly but together they are a great band. 'Set Phasers To Sun' is a great song to open the album. 'A Decade Under The Influence' and 'This Photograph Is Proof' both went on to become minor hits for the band and help the album to sell the amount of copies it did. 'The Union' is another great song with really good lyrics and some memorable guitar work. 'New American Classic' aside from having a really cool title is a really cool song. It is slow and acoustic. "tell all your friends" is without a doubt a classic album and is the best in this genre of music. there's no denying that. then nolan left the band and tbs changed its lineup and "where you want to be" was the result. despite the different vocalist and sound, i thought "WYWTB" was a excellent record and was close to "TAYF" but not quite. now comes april 25 and "louder now" is released and upon first listen, there's no doubt that TBS have progressed as a band. whether their progression is a positive or a negative, i don't know. that's up to the listener. i myself love when bands think outside the box and evolve and keep doing so for each record they put out (i.e. saves the day). although they're initial sound with "TAYF" is no longer present i can't help to enjoy their progression and the fact that they finally made a rock record. like my review title says, they...See less

(08/12/07) I find myself lucky to have discovered Something Corporate on my own. Based solely on a review of it, I bought their album and it turned out to be one of the best albums of 2002. So why did I buy it based on just a review? The review compared it to Ben Folds, one of my all-time favorite musicians. Something Corporate is one of those rare bands that doesn't sound manufactured or pandering. Their music is best described as piano rock with shades of punk thrown in. It's also very rare for me to love every song on an album, but again it has happened here. The songs incorporate a good bit of piano and clever songwriting. Even the slower songs which normally bore me are well written and performed. It's hard to single out the best songs, but some of my favorites are "You're Gone" and "I Woke Up In a Car", the latter of which I found out recently was released to radio. But I'm wondering if this is going to be the only album made under that heading, because the liner notes have literally every song lyric and album credit put together in one giant paragraph -- it's like reading a never-ending run-on sentence (or better yet, it's like reading a review on Amazon that's written in all capital letters). That's usually the sign of a rush job. Anyway, I decided to check this album out because it was promoted as being a lot harder and more mature than your average blink-182 album, minus funny lyrics or humorous stories. By listening to the album, it's obvious that the music is a higher priority than the lyrics, but the thing is, the focus seems to be on the music and not much else. (08/05/07) I'm not a huge fan of movie soundtracks, but you couldn't take this CD away from me without a fight. Pretty In Pink's music did much to make it the great film it was. Although some of the artists featured on the soundtrack weren't really mainstream or famous, the music epitomizes the late great 1980s. "If You Leave" by OMD was one of the biggest hits of the entire decade, and it sounds as good today as it did back then. The title track by The Psychedelic Furs remains immediately recognizable by its opening notes. Both of these two songs still spark a nostalgic memory of my angst-ridden teen years. I must thank the compilers of this soundtrack for including the short but emotion-laden track "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" by The Smiths. Were it not for this CD, I probably would never have discovered the weird yet cathartic music of Morrissey and The Smiths. "Left of Center" is one of Suzanne Vega's best songs, just as "Do Wot You Do" represents INXS at that band's peak....See less

Over the years I've discovered that it's a great way to find new artists and styles in music that I would normally never give a glance to, much less sit down and actually listen to. I've been interested in the tragic tale of Marie Antoinette, oh, since forever, I suppose. I've watched quite a few films, and read quite a few books, and even managed to get somewhat familiar with the music -- she was a quite a musician herself, very skilled at the harp and harpsichord, and acted in various private productions. Now Sophia Coppola has produced a film about her that takes a look at the Queen and her Versailles, the most splendid and magnificent court of its time. And I had heard about the music used for the soundtrack, and that it was rather -- different. That's the least of it, I discovered. Pretty much everyone has one song at least that they associate with the show, no matter how much they love or hate it. And that is why it is so heartbreaking that this is how the soundtrack series will conclude. As everyone who is reading this will likely know, Fox finally pulled the plug on the OC a few weeks ago. The show will finish its 16 episode 4th season and the series finale will air some time in february, but when it comes to the mixes, this is it. And what a pathetic way for such a great soundtrack series to go out. 1,2, and 4 were incredible, and while 5 wasn't as good, it still continued the quality of the series and had a few mindblowing tracks. But mix 6 shows that the music supervisors have finally run out of ideas. Just A Ride-Jem: 3/4 = okay song, gets a little annoying after a while. 3. Honey & the Moon-Joseph Arthur: 4/4 = one of my faves on the soundtrack, excellent. 4. The Way we Get By-Spoon: 4/4 = cool song, nice piano-pop beat. 5. Move On-Jet: 4/4 = the only Jet song I actually like. Good, not too Beatles-sounding, awesome. 6. How Good it Can Be-The 88: 4/4 = okay song, the clapping gets a little old. Very 80s. 7. Caught By the River-Doves: 4/4 = another one of my faves on the sdtrk. 8.
