(10/24/11) I must tell you, this silver velvet is pretty amazing. It has the appearance of liquid metal while been so soft and sweet to the touch. Wear this belt on the brilliant silver side to dress up your look or wear in reverse, on the black velvet side, to add drama to your style. I think you'll love this belt. The ceramic bird I paired it with began as a lump of clay. I embossed the surface with a piece of vintage lace and fired the bird. Once out of the kiln, the buckle was glazed with a satin pewter colored glaze. The bird buckle measures 3 3/4" across, 2" tall and has a depth of 1/4". It is both lightweight and durable. This belt is reversible. The silver velvet side is so soft and lovely. The black velvet side is equally as soft, but does not have the crushed velvet look of the silver. The belt measures 1" by 42". (10/24/11) Since fall, I have been mad about plaid. I've picked up an assortment of vintage plaid skirts, fabrics and I even found a plaid jumper. Trust me, it's way cuter than it sounds. All of this plaid-ness (sorry, I had to) has lead me to create such buckles as this one. Hope you like it. I began by rolling clay onto a surface that has an embossed plaid pattern. Afterward, I cut out the shape of a bunny. Once the clay had dried completely, it was fired in the kiln. I then glazed the surface of the bunny with a black glaze that I burnished to reveal the textures underneath. The raised areas of the pattern, the edge and the reverse of the bunny all have a high gloss bright red glaze. The bunny measures 3 1/3" across, 2 3/4" tall and has a depth of 1/4". It is both lightweight and durable. The belt is reversible. It is made from black linen and a vintage reproduction plaid fabric. My label, "Custom Made by Cassie Stephens", is sewn into the belt. I recently saw the colors together and knew I had to create a couple of belts that had the same palette. In fact, I'm currently on the hunt for a pair of turquoise shoes to pair with my maroon tights. Until then, I'll just have to be happy with this belt. And the chocolate, of course.
