Grab a sweater and go Skill Level: Beginner Needed: * Man's or Woman's Sweater * 1/4 yard knit ribbing ---------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, let's get started! Grab a sweater (from a thrift store, your closet, dad's drawer, wherever). I had a hard time deciding whether to make this into just a smaller sweater for my son or if I wanted to do a vest. I settled on the vest because it's adds fun style to the outfit and would look real cute with a contrasting buttoned shirt underneath (guess I need to make that next). I used a sweater vest my son already owned as my guideline. If you don't have a sweater vest, use one of your son's shirts as your guide. Find an image you like online or from your photo stash and print it off on a piece of paper. In this instance, Makenna loves goldfish crackers, so we're making Goldfish Pants: 3. Purchase Freezer Paper from your local grocery store. It must be actual Freezer Paper, not wax paper: 4. Either trace or print your image to the Freezer Paper (on the DULL side of the paper). If you choose to trace: place your picture/image under the freezer paper (with the shiny side of the freezer paper down) and trace. If it's hard to see your image through the freezer paper, try outlining the image with a sharpie first. 5. Tape the freezer paper down on a cutting mat and cut your image. I've done other variations in the past: (UNO image done by Freezer Paper Stenciling....Tutorial HERE. Image HERE.) And though the first few times I made it, the shirt took me longer than 90 minutes....I've made it so many times now that I can even get it down to an hour. I don't want to hire someone, I certainly don't want to buy store bought, but I want it to look like I hired someone and not scream MOM MADE. That's just who I am, Poppa has learned to love me inspite of me. This little personality trait of mine can drive loved ones crazy. I tend to be controlling and the finest detail has to carry through with whatever theme is set for the event. So why am I revealing this not so loveable trait about myself? Well one of the things that usually goes along with events and parties is cake. And I prefer to make my own cakes rather than buy but I'm not a cake professional and getting a cake to not scream MOM MADE can be tricky without experience, lessons, or practice.
