The Mansion Planter allows for that personal rooftop garden you dreamed of…but to wee scale. All the details of home are there, however, from the stairs and colored windows, to the balcony handrails and flower pots. With the Truss Planter, he considers a new use for an abandoned building (complete with exposed steel)—as home for a living plant. Colored windows in the series provide a second use as a candle holder. Sato established his studio Pull+Push in 2002 with the goal of “pulling and pushing new ideas in and out.” The Kyoto Seika grad studied design in construction in the fine arts department there.
