The sun's shadow cast by the sundial's vane marks the local time. The sundial comes with a removable lid, which can be placed on the bottom of the sundial when open. The sundial vane is hinged to lay flat for compact storage. When closed, the sundial measures 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) in diameter, 1 1/8 inches (2.85 cm) tall, and the sundial weighs 7.3 ounces (207 grams). A compass rose is a figure displaying the orientation of the cardinal directions, north, south, east and west on a map or nautical chart. Samuel Emery (1787-1882) was Salem, Massachusetts' foremost navigational instrument dealer between 1809 and 1868. In addition to selling these instruments, he also made compasses. This pin is based on the original copper plate in PEM's collection that Samuel Emery used for printing his compass rose. See less

You’ve probably always heard that the two don’t mix which is true if you’re wearing a suit . . . but this is a completely different concept. These suspenders are not like their English counterparts - braces - which are, of course, very dressy. Mine are casual and made to be worn with jeans and khakis. Nobody says you have to wear a belt and suspenders at the same time; but if you run up on me, I’ll probably have them on together. In my way of thinking, if John Wayne and Quigley wore them together, that’s good enough for me. The combination looks especially interesting if you own a Col.
