(11/30/08) Konstantin Slawinski is one of those designers who always come up with ideas that not only look good but work well too. Case in point is his SL4 vase that comes as a two piece set. Part one is the glass vase – a very simple and reduced cube, part two is the 'frame'. A metallic silver metal frame with several different sized openings, that allow the vase to adapt to whatever size bouguet you have. If you have a single rose – use the smallest hole that holds the single flower. One size up – great for a handful of tulips or the like. And it just goes on that way... Simply put your power strip or surge protector inside the Cablebox – no need to unplug anything beforehand – sort your cables with the included twist ties and close the lid. Voila, the mess is gone. Well, not really, but it's out of sight and that pretty much does the trick! (11/30/08) It's this time of the year again; it's getting a bit nippy outside (at least up here on the northern hemisphere) it's dark early and doesn't get really warm and bright anymore… So we are in need of a little something that will make it all feel much nicer. Gentler and warmer; just a bit friendlier… The perfect setting for Tord Boontje's 'Thinking Of You' covers. They are fragile little covers in silver satin super thin metal that can be placed over a glass and used as a vase, or you can place a votive candle inside and see it throw amazing shadows, or you can simply use it as a decorative piece the way it is, or cover a candle holder you don't like anymore – the options are countless. They are about 8 inches high (20 cm) and Now (the rounder one) is 5.5 inches wide (14 cm) whereas Here (the longer narrower one) is 4 inches wide (10 cm). Here's a fantastic solution from the great guys at Mode in the UK, the Sticklebook. Sticklebook? Well yes, the Sticklebook is the alternative to a regular bookshelf, an aluminum bracket and a combed strip, that grab the pages of your paperback book without leaving any marks, creating the illusion of a line of books hanging unsupported on the wall. If you're thinking that this can't be working, trust us, you're not alone, we were the same. But the fact is that it does work perfectly, even Ron Arad called it new and original, so don't just take our word for it. Brand spanking new from our friends over at Kyouei Design, these bookmarks are all handmade out of Silicone so each one looks different and they all look as if they are melting... They were sold for the first time at Designboommart in Tokyo and caused quite the commotion. Each one is about 10" (25 cm) long and 2" (5 cm) wide, give and take a bit as they are all handmade!
