I love all things crafty and have a passion for classic books and anything vintage. I like to knit, embroider and make beautiful origami animals amongst other things. At the moment I just make gifts for my friends and family, I love to give them something completely unique and that they know I made with them in mind. Their reactions have been wonderful, and now I think I might like to start making things to sell, but what to create?...

My creative spurt started off with knitting. The little bunny in my profile picture is one of the first things I made, and my prototpe for many bunnies I have since given as gifts.( I got the pattern off of Ravelry from Danger Crafts, you can check out Rebecca's shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/dangercrafts) I like to give them jobs to make sure they don't get lazy, I've given 'housewarming bunnies', 'good luck bunnies' and even a 'pin cushion bunny'. I often send them with little poems, and label tied to their ear so the recipient knows what they are there for. I've knitted initials, i-phone cases and wristwarmers, and now I'm on to the bigger stuff!
Then I gave sewing a go, I made aprons and bags and cushion covers. My boyfriends mum runs 'Shabby Chic' furniture painting classes, so I made her 6 aprons out of pretty tea towels to hang on the door - she loved them so much she wont actually let anyone use them! I recently made my friend a cushion with a pink flamingo hand embroidered on the front, she loved it, but apparently her sister has a terrible phobia of flamingos! Who would have thought it?
I really believe that the packaging is just as important as the gift, so I spend lots of time in charity shops and car boot sales finding old music sheets, dictionaries, paper and anything that I can embelish the wrapping with. I usually tie it up with lots of different pieces of coloured wool and stick something pretty on the top. I learnt how to make origami cranes and if you pop one of these on top it always looks lovely. I ike to try to fit my gifts in to up-cycled boxes, sometimes as 'kits'. I made my mum a 'Dig For Victory Gardener's Kit'. I covered the top of the box with pages from an old dictionary, all with words at the top relating to gardening. I used cute little stams to write the kit name on the front. Then inside was a 'Head Gardener's' apron, a knee cushion, a flowery garden bag and a little 'Gardener's log book'. It looked very cute.
The only thing I have really make for myself is re-furbished furniture at the 'Shabby Chic Club'. We are hoping to get our own house in the next couple of years so I am accumulating as many bargains as I can and doing them up myself. So far I have a beautiful cream bureau, a dining table (which cost me £5!) and chairs, a chest of drawers, a mirror, and my new purchase ... a 40's singer sewing machine with stand!
You may have guessed... I also quite like to talk.
So I am here for inspiration and to make some friends!
I also run my own events entertainment agency called The Band Boutique, www.thebandboutique.co.uk. We provide solo acts and bands for weddings and events, everything from 1920's theme bands to Rock bands and more.
