(12/03/07) The Meridian lamp by Lights Up! is really more of a lantern than a lamp; but it's really more of a Platonic ideal of Lantern-ness than it is a lantern. The base is a brushed-nickel finish, but it almost vanishes when you consider it against the column of light that stretches above it. The Meridian lamp looks more like a domesticated lightsaber than it does a regular lamp: pure light, tamed into a specific bacillar shape for a specific use (although without the nifty sound effects). The pendant version is neat too, and is available with a patterned shade.See less
