The image was photographed by renowned celebrity portraitist Annie Leibovitz mere hours before Lennon was shot on December 8, 1980. You are looking at pictures of our family home in Wales. It was built by myself and my father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting we were moved in and cosy. I estimate 1000-1500 man hours and £3000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour). The house was built with maximum regard for the environment and by reciprocation gives us a unique opportunity to live close to nature. Being your own (have a go) architect is a lot of fun and allows you to create and enjoy something which is part of yourself and the land rather than, at worst, a mass produced box designed for maximum profit and convenience of the construction industry. Building from natural materials does away with producers profits and the cocktail of carcinogenic poisons that fill most modern buildings. * Dug into hillside for low visual impact and shelter * Stone and mud from diggings used for retaining walls, foundations etc. *... Most people don't take a single photograph without posing in front of a perfectly good scene. Don't get me wrong, its nice to see someone was somewhere, but how many of those can you really look at and stay interested? The pictures feel extremely static and people always pose the same way. You might as well pose in front of a blue screen. I don't mind a few vacation snapshots and some of them can be quite funny, but I think it is a much better idea to capture the moment. People laughing and joking or having fun going after some activity is much more interesting than having them pose together in front of the camera. This one is a 180 degree turn from the previous item on the list. There are perfectly valid reasons to include people in photographs. Often I wait for people to leave the picture, not realizing that they belong in the scene. For reasons of copyright, I usually only publish images of people whose faces cannot be recognized or who agreed at least orally to being published. The... See less

It all began in the sauna at the Dolphin Club where I swim (I am an open water polar bear swimmer in San Francisco Bay). One of the women is a casting agent who was involved with the casting for the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and she invited a group of us to a casting call for women over 50. Several of us agreed to audition and I was later chosen to go to New York for the photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz. What was it like working with Annie Leibovitz? The experience with Annie Leibovitz was incredible. I felt an immediate bond with Annie. We are around the same age, have sisters (I have 3), both lived in Texas in our youth, with fathers in the US Air Force.... The photo shoot was so professional that I was comfortable throughout the process. The outcome is a work of art and I am very proud of the photos.... See less

Its fun and everybody enjoys a cool pumpkin. Unfortunately they begin to rot less than a week after carving so be sure to take plenty of pictures. You can experiment with ways of preserving them but I find nothing works better than a nice photo. Some chefs that I have carved for put lemon juice on the faces to help slow down the natural molding process that will occur. Picking out the right pumpkin is very important. You need a pumpkin with a thick wall. To get this kind you will have to choose one that is very heavy for its size. Also avoid perfectly round pumpkins and opt for ones that have a protruding ridge that sticks out on one side. These shapes make nice faces as you could imagine how difficult it would be to carve a 3-D face onto a shallow flat surface. Tools 1. large clay ribbon... See less
