I found this book very helpful for an overlay. It gives a description of what one might typically expect. The author suggests that when reading the interpretations that we can change the written language from he to she. I found this a bit troublesome. I think it would have been better expressed in gender neutral language. Though I am a novice to the data he refers to, I do believe, based on my many conversations with people asking questions about synastry, that he is fairly accurate. The book is basically easy to read and understand.See less

Though only the major aspects are explained, I don't personally work enough with the minors to find that a problem. The explanations are detailed and throrough. Mr. Pelletier covers the opposition, conjunction, trine, square and sextile aspects. The only fault I found is that it isn't terribly user friendly. They aspects are divided up by aspect instead of planet and you must remember to go to the first planet instead of the later. (ie. Mars trined Uranus is under Trines>Mars to Uranus) If you ever plan to interpret a chart, this is one of those must haves.See less

I'm happy to say that I had the foresight to cover it with plastic since I refer to this book more than any other astrology book that I own and now, more than 20 years later, my copy is still in good condition. I have an entire shelf filled with astrology books, probably in the area 400+ books. I've been an astrologer for over 30 years and my highest recommendation goes to Planets in Transits. In 1980 I had the opportunity to hear Robert Hand at an astrology conference. He talked about how he wrote Planets in Transit and he said that at the time of the writing, he had a transit of Neptune going over his Sun. He jokingly said, "I don't even remember writing this book." Surely, with Neptune transiting over his Sun, he was blessedly inspired. For all new and intermediate students, this is the one to have on your shelf.See less

When I read: "Composite Moon Trine Composite Jupiter" I didn't have a clue as to what that meant, UNTIL I was able to read what this configuration is all about in the easy-to-understand explanations given in this wonderful book. As astrological aspects in composite charts are important when entering into any type of relationship, be it romantic, business, family, etc., this book is a great help to see how two people will interact with each other on many levels. I can tell you that the composite chart interpretations I was given in this book were all astoundingly accurate.
