I initially made a stamp out of wax and cast it - then I used it to stamp the new waxes to get the "positive" of the lotus design I wanted and then cast them in sterling silver! These little lotuses (lotii?) became earrings. I hung them a bit slanted to add a nice flow to the design. These earrings were made after making a custom pair for a sweet bride. I had been thinking of working more stones or beads in to the designs and was happy to have an excuse to experiment! I think the pearls and the elegant organic nature of the earrings lend themselves perfectly for that special wedding day. Course, they could be worn any time, but were made with a bride in mind. They measure a tiny bit over 1.5" from the top curve of the ear wire. The metal is argentium sterling silver that has been fused and hammered and the ear wires are sterling silver too. This sweet and tiny version of my tree bark ring is perfect for your pinky! (or a really small ring finger!) It was created in wax and then cast in sterling silver using lost wax casting. I cleaned it up and added a patina to highlight the texture and then tumbled it for a final polish. If you are interested in a ring like this, but in your size, please feel free to contact me for a price quote! Lost wax casting is when you take your wax and make a mold out of investment (which is basically a special kind of plaster). Then you put the mold in a kiln and burn the wax out of the mold at over 1300 degrees. After the wax has burned out of the mold you melt the silver in a crucible and then using a vacuum casting machine, pour the molten metal in to the mold. Then you have to quench the mold after a cools a bit and then you clean everything up from there! All the steps of my work are done by me - this includes but is not limited to fusing, soldering, sawing, filing, sanding, polishing and... See less

I love making flowers out of wax and find that they end up looking like a real flower even though I feel like I am just creating my own flower. It is handmade in wax and then cast in sterling silver - all in my studio! A patina is added to bring out all the subtle textures and lines of the ring and flower. The ring is a bit over a size 6, though could be enlarged up easily to a 7. The flower is quite large - this is no subtle ring - sure to get you many many compliments! When I was little I loved blowing all the dandelion fluffs all over the yard, making wishes for something special. I was working on coming up with a new design for wedding bands and was walking around my yard looking for inspiration. And of course there were tons of dandelions. I thought the idea of dandelions was super sweet and the subtle texture they became in metal was just great! Each ring is made in wax with single dandelion fluffs carefully pushed into the band. Because of the handmade quality and the delicate nature of the dandelion seeds, each ring will vary slightly from the ones in the photograph. These rings will be cast in sterling silver.
