(06/03/08) Nicole, I love the way you've made a cinder block wall look so cool! This is my current space - and I love it! But my lease is up soon, and since being here hasn't led to more business, I may be moving. It makes me really sad, but I'm not sure I can justify the cost much longer.See less

(06/03/08) The door in the back there looks out over Long Beach Harbor and the Queen Mary. The entrance on the extreme left is a landing that looks out over the Long Beach Grand Prix race cource and The Yard House restaraunt(over 250 different beers on tap ) The plasma over the closet pulls out and swings toward the clients sitting on the couch. The studio is also located directly over a funnel cake and waffle-cone ice cream shop. Been there just over 4 years. This is shot from my desk.See less

(06/03/08) Well, I took some photos of the studio yesterday.. I share the space with 3 other photographers and one journalist. The others have their workplace here, but I have my office and digital work-place at home, so I just use the studio for meetings and shooting sessions. It works quite well because we work with so different things, one photographer is only working for magazines and almost never shoot in the studio, another is a commercial photographer working for Volvo from time to time and then uses their big studios, the third works with advertising agencies and is the only one using the studio apart from me (by the way, in the 80-ies she was over in the US working as an assistant to Monte Zucher so I do get some good tips on posing and lightning from time to time). I work some with companies, doing portraits in the studio and some with private customers doing portaits and a few weddings here. Mostly I shoot outside, but I like every opportunity I get to practice with lightning indoors...See less

(06/03/08) Here is ours. Definitely NOT contemporary. The left side: The center: The right side: No client images on the wall, only my family images. I sell weddings from the albums and the screens (The computer armoire is normally closed, unless I am showing an album design). I like to sell wall portraits to families, and this is suggestive selling, even to those who do not employ me to photograph their wedding. The fireplace is oak and marble. The carpet has an inlaid pattern in the middle. The sofas and chairs are Rococo. The screen is a 65 inch Mitsubishi with Bose surround sound. The coffee table with all the albums is the one I want to replace. I'd like one that has a shelf underneath, so that I don't have to have everything on top. But it also has to go with the rest of the room. Anyone seen something like that? RaySee less

(06/03/08) In the rough: Those panels are what we use at bridal shows, just lying around right now. The center thing will house a big TV, with a faux mantel piece above. The entrance door is on the right, the open passage is to our office, where I have a temporary desk set up on a rolling scaffold. The left opening leads to the camera room. The fellow in the red shirt just returned from a little snowshoeing, and looks a bit weary, to be sure. Ready or not, a potential client is coming by tomorrow, another on Friday (but this client will also be our painter).See less
