Lauren wore a Richard Tyler gown from Barneys New York. Embroidered on the bouquet's ribbon is the custom motif that Tara designed for Lauren and Keith. We have been really lucky to have worked many weddings in Mexico and this one is at the One & Only Palmilla - a very exclusive celebrity haunt that often hosts the most sought after weddings. Michelle & Nate were married before 80 guests on the chapel followed by a cocktail party on the chapel deck and dinner on the beach in a custom built tent along with dancing in the ballroom into the wee hours. I loved so much about this couple -- and the bride & groom both had a very defined sense of style and were very gracious and they're both gorgeous! I adored working with them. We brought all the linen, chair pads, decor, candles and flowers from the US and worked with our team to create a really beautiful ambiance for the wedding. When my mom was in town, we went to the Bungalow Club to do some crafty recon regarding the menu and some decor specifics. We had a few mojitos, ate a delicious meal, and did some measuring, counting and charting. Progress has been made, people! The outdoor patio (where we’ll be having dinner) is partially covered by a peaked, corrugated plastic roof. It’s not the most lovely aspect of the patio. Its also quite dim out there—mostly lit by candles… which, while sexy and moody, isn’t so conducive to wedding chit chat or photos. I’ve always loved the look of hanging paper lanterns at weddings, so right away we decided it was a brilliant way to address both issues. We’ll make LED throwies to light them up, and enjoy the glow from above. We did a count of the rafters, and figure if we hang 3 lanterns on each rafter, on either side of the ceiling peak, it should be just right. Added up, it totals 66 lanterns. I’d love to do two 12″ lanterns flanking one 14″ on each bar, for visual interest…... See less

There was a full all-star lineup of vendors, including my favorite caterer in town as well as one of my favorite lighting companies (I shot the designer, Ryan’s, wedding!) Also crazy is that I knew so many of the guests. My next door neighbors growing up, two of my parents best friends, several former Next Exit wedding clients, the Rabbi and Cantor who married Adi and I…the list goes on and on. So, by now you know that Mr. Sweet Tea and I are having a mini-destination wedding in New Orleans. I say ‘mini’ just because NOLA is not as ‘exotic’ a locale as a typical destination wedding, but definitely *not* because it’s a miniature amount of work. Calling vendors and making decisions when you have a two hour time difference and are a pricey 6+ hour plane trip away isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Whereas a childhood best friend recently planned her wedding in four months, as she was able to drive home whenever she wanted to finalize decisions, me and Mr. ST have mostly been going on gut instinct and faith (ok, and a lot of obsessively-compiled information gathered by yours truly). So, to keep myself from going absolutely crazy, I’m working really hard to accept the fact that I have to let go of some things… maybe a lot of things. It’s quieter and you can get a good look at their stalls * Gather as much information as you can so you can sift through it at home rather than trying to make decisions in the crowds. * Wear comfortable shoes! * Have a giggle- there are some weird and wonderful things at these expos, so take it easy, be relaxed and have a giggle or two.
