Psssst…. Over here! SShhhhhh! Come closer. No, act casual. Listen! You want a sneak peek in on our Save the Dates? You’ve been so patient, I feel you deserve a little tease. Actually, I’m just so freakin’ excited I can’t contain it anymore! Behold, our Save The Date envelope—complete with the bad ass wraparound label the gals at Elizabeth Anne Designs* created for us, and the gloriously adorable “love: all heart” stamps. The actual STDs will arrive today, according to FedEx… but we wanted to be ready for them. Now we can just stuff, and send them off! What do you think? We used Paper & More’s Jupiter Red A7 envelopes, which are pearlescent. They have just the right amount of shimmer, without being “glittery”. They feel nice to the touch (don’t snicker, I’m a tactile gal), and are a really nice stock weight. I highly recommend Paper & More. Our postal carrier screwed up the delivery. I called the company to verify my address was correct on the order, and they sent out a fresh delivery... See less

Then, they headed off to one of our favorite stomping grounds, Rancho Las Lomas. I heard through the grapevine that J pursued L for many, many years until she finally agreed to go out with him. Gotta love the persistence. The chapel at Furman University was very simple and we knew that our ceremony wouldn’t need a ton of decoration. We did, however, want it to be very warm and inviting. With the ceilings as high as they are, we knew that we would need to bring in some height with some plants. My vision was to have very light and airy flowers. I love cherry blossom trees and curly willow. I wanted little buds and blooms and lots and lots of candlelight. Our biggest issue with flowers was that we didn’t want to put a lot of money into it. It may be a wedding planning faux pas to say this, but we understood the importance of flowers, but felt like it was the worst way to spend our money. A lot of brides will disagree. I spent more on my dress than we ended up spending on flowers and I don’t regret it for a second. I won’t wear my dress again, but at least I can gaze at it in my closet. The flowers were gone after two days. So sad. We also put a lot of our budget toward our fabulous band, The Root Doctors,... See less

I’ve said before that after the fact, I found that paying attention to all the little details was totally worth it. Even with the craziness of our day (you’d think a table number sign might get overlooked in a hailstorm), our guests made sure to mention to that they loved the favors, or the martinis, or the centerpieces, or even the wine glasses. It meant the world to me. Here are a few more shots of the details for you—as usual, by the well-loved (by us!) Samantha Warren. Buckets of flip flops, and evidence that yes, your male guests will sport them too: Our signature drinks were a big hit. People were drinking our favorite Wild Maine Blueberry Martinis and Dark and Stormys all night. Our escort cards were CDs - we decided to do a mix of love songs, and asked each member of our bridal party (which included all seven of our siblings), our moms and our dads for their favorites, and compiled them all together with our pick included too.
