Washing Machine - Front-loading. The best front-loader on the market is the Kenmore HE 4t and its near clone, the Whirlpool Duet HT (both made by Whirlpool). In reviews, experts are impressed with the water efficiency and capacity of these models. They use less than half the water of conventional washers. The HE 4t/Duet HT front-loaders have a "whitest white" cycle with an automatic bleach dispenser, a soak cycle, a quick wash cycle, silk and wool cycles, and a sanitary cycle. The sanitary cycle heats water to 160 degrees, hot enough to kill dust mites in bedding. Although the HE 4t and Duet HT differ slightly in features and cosmetics, the Whirlpool variant tends to be priced a bit lower, so we’ve included it here. See less
