This skirt is inspired by a few different high-end designers who have made various versions of "cage" inspired clothing. You may be thinking, "a skirt that's a cage how the heck do you wear it?!". Well, I think this is one of those pieces that is more of an accessory than an actual garment. You could layer it over skinny jeans, tights or a skirt, or pair it up with a frothy frilly dress and play with contrast a bit. I've photographed this skirt with a simple fitted dress so the details are easily visible, however this piece could be worn in sooooo many ways. It's perfect for someone who likes to challenge fashion conventions a bit, and likes to get creative with their layering. I recently made a floral version for Susie of www.stylebubble.typepad.com. (vintage dress, H&M tights, Sam Edelman boots) It is pouring rain right now and I love it, as much as all of Socal can't drive when it's wet out. Here's what I wore yesterday, craziest vintage sweater dress ever. I couldn't even believe this sequined/mesh spiderweb collar when I saw it. I get a lot of questions and emails about if/how I wear this stuff out. It would be a pretty exhausting waste of time and effort if I didn't actually wear my clothes, wouldn't it? And as I always say, other people aren't dressing to please me and in turn I see no need to take them into account when dressing myself. I've actually never had a stranger negatively comment on anything I wear though, mainly people just remark on my shoes. I think you guys think people are a lot meaner than they really are? The internet, however..a whole different world. Off to eat lobster mac and cheese with truffle oil at a restaurant Colin found, ohh am I excited. It's going to be really weird or really, really good. Here's what I wore yesterday, craziest vintage sweater dress ever. I couldn't even believe this sequined/mesh spiderweb collar when I saw it. Defaulted to denim shorts today..I dug up this highly sheer silk top from Express that I bought years and years ago and NEVER wore. Mostly because I didn't know what to wear under it, which I solved today except not really. But hey, I figured it was okay to wear it alone if I kept the blazer on.
