A great technique is to enlarge the photo, like I did here and then put it over one of your backgrounds. Play with the different layer modes found on the layers palette, at the top. When I get a look I like then I play with the opacity also found at the top of the layers palette. When I am satisfied with the look I'm ready to erase the hard edges around the photo so it blends better into the background. Click the "e" key to get the eraser. Choose a soft edged brush. I have been asked quite a few times to make a tutorial for folded corners in Photoshop Elements. I am trying to learn how to make videos the best way of my tutorials and, therefore, since this would take me an entire day to do on paper, I thought it best to benefit both of us at the same time--you get the tutorial and I get to practice! So, if I had a site where you paid monthly to see my videos, would you subscribe? I am so scared and nervous putting this up online! Oh, will my voice be the same as you imagine it when reading my writing? The video does not look so bad until it is compressed (by Photoshop Premiere Elements 4) and put on YouTube, so eventually I will have to figure out something better, but this is as good as it gets for now. This button is from ActionFX.com Create a new layer by clicking on the new layer icon and choose your brush tool (keyboard shortcut B), open your brush palette and click on Brush Tip Shape (PSCS3 workspace shown here). Choose a basic round hard brush at 3px Zoom in so you are at a comfortable viewing level (View here is 200%) Select a color for your thread and draw in some threads that extend past the holes diagonally . Create a new layer and draw in threads for the other direction. *You can add a pattern overlay to both of these layers to mimic the texture of thread or leave it plain. Duplicate the 2nd layer of thread (CTRL +J), rotate and arrange the threads to create more bulk. You can actually use any square canvas but the larger size is more practical for digital scrapbooking. Select an element from your digital supplies, open the file to your workspace and then use SHIFT and drag to drag it onto your canvas. It is important that the element is centered on the canvas for the result to be successful. Press CTRL and T on your keyboard to access the Free Transform Options bar. In the Height box, double the percentage to 200% by overtyping. Select the Move too on the Tools Palette and the Apply on the pop up box that appears. Now go to Filter> Distort> Polar Coordinates Choose Rectangular to Polar (you will probably have to zoom in to view the preview of the results) Select OK Add appropriate shadows and dodge and burn to finish. It is best to create your safety pin at twice the size you actually want and then shrink it, to get rid of the jagged edges. I started with a canvas of 250x250, with a white background. | 1. Create a path in an elongated oval. I connected two points (and back again, since paths have to be closed) so it just looked a line, and then added points to the middle of each line and pulled them out, pulling out the curve lines to make it rounder. | 2. Make a new path, and create a circular selection that follows the lines where it overlaps with the other path. I selected the other path while drawing the new one to be able to mesh with it correctly. | 3. Select the first path, and create a new layer. Choose black as your foreground colour, and go to Edit->Stroke. I chose a setting of 3 pixels wide, and centered.
