Everyone has a story to tell. Sometimes, people just need a little help getting it out. Arlene Ditzler provides that help, pulling out long-dormant memories with gentle questioning and pads of paper. They're always skeptical at first, the Bristol Township resident said. They first thing they say is, "I don't have any stories.' But, by the end of one of Ditzler's Your Life Stories workshops, participants all women, most of them seniors often have enough stories to fill a small book, Ditzler said. She was a bit skeptical the first time she went to a storytelling workshop, held by Sandra Pesini of Philadelphia. Ditzler said she was so impressed she went back several times, before asking Pesini if she could use her Walk with Women program with seniors. Ditzler started holding writing workshops at Chandler Hall, an assisted-living facility in Newtown Township where she volunteered. I love working with the elderly, said Ditzler, 64.
