Cut a length of thread that's comfortable for you to use...I use about 6 feet because I hate adding thread. :) Be sure to pre-stretch your Nymo, and run it through some Thread Heaven a couple of times. String on 4 core beads (Black) and 3 outer beads (White). Go back up through (from the bottom) the 4 core beads in the same direction, so that the white beads are lying alongside the black ones. Macramé projects often utilize tape or a clipboard to hold the work in place, but I found that the loop of my belt worked very well. Just don't run to answer the phone before untying yourself! * Fold the 40" piece in half; tie the loose ends to your belt loop, and tape the other (looped end) to a table directly in front of you. (My craft table had a knob on it, which was perfect.) * Fold the 70" piece in half and tie it to strand B, about 5 inches down from the place you anchored your B strands. Depending on your knot-tying ability, and the sizes of the holes in your beads, you may be able to completely hide the knots. Knots don't get along well with me, so these instructions are assuming using Beadalon. 1. Make 6-10 dangles to hang off the ends: a. If using charms, simply attach a split ring to the top of each charm. You may want to use split ring pliers. b. If using beads, string desired beads on a head pin, and make a loop at the top, using loop instructions: Then attach a split ring to the top of the loop. c. This super-simple ring is the perfect starting point for learning to make all kinds of more elaborate wire wrapped rings. After you've perfected this one, start experimenting with variations - different metals, adding beads and stones, etc. - and show me what you come up with! (Sorry for the somewhat blurry photos; the weather was icky this morning so I photographed inside, and they did not turn out well.) You will need: * flat-nosed pliers * wire cutters * 12" of 22-gauge dead-soft sterling silver wire (or more for an extra large sized ring) * a ring mandrel, or if you don't have one, something that is round and finger-sized, like maybe a wooden dowel or a fat pen 1.
