(11/26/08) My shampoo bars are distinctively different from my bath soap or any other soap recipe. For one thing, I add so much more castor oil to this soap for both the extra creamy lather and the abundant glycerin it produces upon becoming soap. Castor oil tends to make the soap softer, but if you allow it to dry out between uses, it will last a lot longer. But, shampoo soap will not last quite as long as a bath bar, because it is a bit softer. However, this is what makes it lather well in the wet hair. I use only extra virgin olive oil instead of mixing olive oil grades as I do in all other soaps but a few. The hair deserves a little extra attention as it is not as tough as our skin and is more susceptible to environmental hazards. Coconut oil adds hardness and big bubbly lather to this bar; and, it helps the shampoo to rinse cleanly quickly. This soap also leaves a glycerin conditioning in our hair.
