(06/28/10) This necklace has a hollow constructed sterling silver jellyfish with 11 dangling arms or tentacles of sterling silver. Slides along a sterling silver chain and lobster clasp. The pendant is flat on the back, and domed on the top. It has been given a dark patina, and then buffed with a steel brush for a matte finish. The back is stamped with .925 and my signature. The jellyfish measures approx 7/8 inch at its widest point, and 1 7/8 inches from the top of the bale to the longest tentacle. The necklace measures 18 inches, with an additional 2.5 inch extender, and accented with a 4mm black agate bead. *Because this necklace is completely hand fabricated (not cast) yours may look slightly different than the one pictured here. (06/28/10) this necklace is made from a cast of a burrowing owl skull, a type of owl that literally burrows underground to search for prey. the also nest in the ground and aren't limited to nocturnal habits. the owl has a sordid history within many cultures. it is at once a creature revered and damned, given powers of wisdom and prophecy while at the same time being likened to the raven for it's tendencies to be able to speak with the dead, for to hear the call of an owl within a dark forest meant certain death. i was immediately drawn to the strange aspects of this particular owl, for it digs within the earth to make it's home. cast in brass and darkened to blacker shade of gray. strung with a lovely gunmetal cable chain. the owl skull is LARGE. the coin in the last photo is the size of a quarter. it's carved out a bit from underneath to pear down it's weight, but it's still a bold & substantial piece. the owl skull is two clicks over 2 inches long & is over 2 inches wide at it's widest. this...See less

This lovely Sterling Silver filigree necklace was intended to be sold locally but I decided to offer it here on ArtFire. It was entirely handcrafted by myself. Each wire was carefully shaped and soldered to create this fabulous one-of-a-kind design. This is the largest piece so far in my "Queen of Hearts" Collection. The chain on this necklace is handcrafted and each link is soldered together for strength. The clasp is an "S" style clasp and is stamped 925. The chain is adjustable and has a heart shaped drop on the end. This is a real attention getter! The necklace is approximately 5" wide x 5" long not including the chain. The necklace is over 18" inches long and is easily adjustable. My filigree designs use a much heavier wire than most filigree on the market. This lets me to make a very strong piece and yet allows me to create a nice open design.See less
