  • I just had to share this baby blanket with any fellow fiber junkies out there. This is a baby blanket that I just finished crocheting for a friend and her son-to-be. (I reserve this level of time/effort/love for those closest to me that I know will appreciate the time/effort/love the project took)  The pattern is from the Spring 2007 Family Circle Easy Crochet magazine. (I keep the best editions of my crochet magazines). It was designed by Michele Wilcox. She has tons of great patterns. I used Baby Bee Hushabye Solid in Naked that I purchased at my local Hobby Lobby. It is a 50/50 cotton/acrylic combination that is a dream to work with. I wish they made it in more "adult" colors because it is soft, but practical. I highly recommend it.
  • Bridesmaid Shoes

    Nine West
Thank you to everyone who commented on my bridesmaid shoes list. I agree with comments that flats and sandals weren't dressy enough. The challenge is that the wedding is taking place on a well watered lawn, so any heel will sink. That left wedges as the only practical option. I really liked the Calvin Klein wedges on my list, but they were much shorter heeled than I had anticipated. I went looking for something similar, but taller.

I ended up with these Nine West wedges from 6pm.com. They only cost $31.60 (msrp is $79). I can't wait for them to come in the mail! Hopefully I will still be just as excited about this website after getting the shoes. 6pm has a lot of great prices and free shipping. The only caveat is that it does cost you shipping to return something. As long as you are familiar with your size in a particular brand, it shouldn't be an issue.

I cannot wait for the wedding and I will be sure to blog a photo of the finished look.
  • Zoya Nail Polish | Tru
I had a coupon at Ulta, so I decided to give in and try the nail polish everyone has been telling me so much about. I don't normally like spending that much on a bottle of polish. I never paint my finger nails, just my toes, because it doesn't last a day. So, I put Zoya to the ultimate test and painted my finger nails. 3 days and only one tiny chip! I wasn't being careful with my nails either.

I will be buying more and hopefully trying out their "color spoons" to get just the right colors as I phase out some of my old bottle of polish. The fact that it has fewer harsh chemicals is an added bonus. The color I bought (above) was Tru, from their Spring 2012 line. It is a nice medium-dark purple with a little shimmer.
  • Just a quick post. I went shopping this weekend for a couple of new shirts to wear to work in the warm Oklahoma summer. I hadn't been to Kohl's for awhile, so I gave it a shot. I'm loving the Elle line that Kohl's is carrying. This is my new favorite "work shirt". Check out the whole collection below:

My necklace is the brushed gold bird from Fossil's 2011 line.
