I'm feeling oh so groovy in my new '70s-inspired trousers!
Scored this pair from a new boutique in my neighborhood called Picnic SF that I'm obsessed with. Fingers crossed that they get their online shop up and running soon so I can share more finds.
Also pictured: Marc Jacob's Lola Bracelet Except I'm wearing it as a ring to complete the look Rachel-Zoe-inspired look and because I can't stop smelling it.
This is one spring trend I am ba-na-nas for.

I love hand-crafted Halloween costumes! I think I enjoy spending every October weekend gathering bits and pieces for my costume more than I enjoy even wearing it. My super-talented sewer of a mother used to make my brothers and me lavish costumes each year. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit her talent with a sewing machine. So now that I'm an adult, I reach for the glue gun and safety pins instead and make-do with odds and ends in my closet.
Three years ago I went as Princess Lolly from Candyland. The costume was easy enough. I just super-glued candies to a red dress and put a bunch of lolly pops in my hair. At the time I was living in Boston and it happened to be muggy Halloween night. Soon the candy was dripping down my dress. Because Halloween is celebrated for an entire week, I was able to reprise the costume with better success. Expert tip: Don't unwrap the candy!
Two years ago, I was a Mermaid caught in a net. I gathered all the shells for the costume in Cape Cod. And the net came from a bait and tackle shop run by a fisherman who had lost all his teeth. Obviously, I'm all about avoiding the stuffed halloween superstores at all costs!
This year, I'm thinking about doing a version of the candy costume again. But with a more Katy Perry California Gurls video look to it. It'd be so fun to go as cotton candy, which requires only the fluff from pillow-fillings, spray painted pink and glued to a dress. I'll keep you posted as I start fashioning this year's costume!

What are you being for Halloween? -
Today Kaboodle HQ partnered with Moxsie for their weekly Street Eats to celebrate our upcoming collabo. (Come Monday, you'll be as in love with as we are already!) In typical K-fashion, we got a little sugar high and goofy courtesy of Kara's Cupcakes.
miss_alina got so lightheaded she almost floated away with the balloons. And I actually caught some air...yeah right...like chomping down on a cupcake (or maybe two...) could make me take flight... :)
Oh BTW, the outfit is a walking sales bin:
Skirt: H&M $5
Shirt: Nordstrom Rack: $12
Sweater: can't even remember...middle school??
the bag: Franco Sarto (This bag was my present to myself when I got my job here at Kaboodle. It was still a steal at $30)
Hope your weekend is filled with sweetness! Cheers! -
This outfit is quickly becoming my go-to on mornings in which I get out of bed 15 minutes before leaving the house. Today was one of those mornings (and considering it makes almost weekly appearances at Kaboodle HQ, it seems I have quite a few of those.)
I love the wash on these Madewell Jeans and the fact that the waist sits comfortably at my hips. (Miraculously, no muffin-topping here!) I'm digging the cuffed look lately, especially with cute flats, which I think keeps me from looking as if I'm preparing for a flood. I bought the shoes a couple years ago and they are so worn that the label is unrecognizable and the the sole is coming loose. Still, can't seem to part with them.
Because I travel through roughly three bay area micro-climates on my way to work everyday, I have to be prepared for fluctuations in temperature of up to 20 degrees! It can make dressing a challenge. That's where the wrap and sheer top (both from H&M) come in. The wrap keeps me warm as I walk through the San Francisco fog in the morning to my car then I can shed it once I've hit the relatively blazing temperatures of the South Bay. I can't imagine a more effortless outfit.
Do you have a go-to look for lazy days? -
I've had some serious Spring Fever the last few days...Ok weeks... I practically squeal at every ray of sunshine or head to the beach the minute the temp reaches above 50 degrees. It's true when they say you don't truly appreciate California weather until you leave it. This is my first February in the Bay Area in four years, and even though I grew up around here, I feel as though I'm experiencing it for the first time. It definitely isn't the frigid, soul-sucking month here as it is in Boston.
I decided to celebrate spring coming early with a new dress and a pair of sunglasses from Therapy. I can't wait to rock this outfit sans tights with a pair of strappy sandals. That will have to wait for a weekend in March, I think.
latest obsessions: cherry blossoms and the color teal. Just can't get enough!

I recently discovered a picture of my parents at my mom's prom (left). She wore what can only be described as prairie-chic (she informs me it was all the rage in the '70s) and my dad apparently thought he was Tom Selleck.. My mom is so tall she recalls having to sew on additional eyelet fabric to the hem. Now that's one crafty woman!
Compare that picture to my little brother's junior prom circa 2009. Matty's adorable, ultra-stylish gf went with a short, sequin number. And doesn't the bro look dashing in his baby blue bow tie?!
Dress styles may have changed but bushy hair, unfortunately has not. Is it some rite of passage that every 17-year-old boy must hide behind their locks?
You know what else has stuck around since the 70s? The awkward prom pose! Why do we insist on this stiff, bicep-clutching-arm-wrapping pose as in my parents' pic?! One of the great mysteries...
