Having used both Mac and PC quite a bit since the early 90s, this is easy: get the MacBook. Way more reliable and fun, much less hassle than Windows. And if you really have to, you can run Windows on the MacBook, too.

I have a MacPro Book - just make sure you get their extended warranty. There are several problems with the latest system and mine is going in for an overhaul, thank goodness for the warranty!

I have heard opinions from about three different people that have the Vaio, that they would never buy it again. I've played with the macbook, myself and it's made me want to switch from my dell precision workstation.

You will definitely enjoy your Mac Note book. However, if you feel that you want to be able to get better deals on software and making it compatible to run as virtual windows it can get a little more costly. If, you dont want any hassle I would go for the sony vaio.

I had a Vaio, it wasn't very sturdy -- the HDs Sony chooses are crap. Apple's pricey, sure -- but perhaps worth it?

I have a macbook and I love it. Not to say it hasn't had a few little problems, and they are very fragile, but it is a great machine and I love the OS, too. Although if you like playing games, well...

No question in my mind. This. Even if you don't prefer the Mac OS, several friends of mine who have switched from a Windows only computer to a Mac Intel, all say that Windows runs smoother and faster on a Mac with similar specs than it does on their Windows only computer.
