This is a fabulous outfit, especially with all the accessories and that suitcase! Of course, that's not a jet plane you have on the board, but I think that's great because this outfit would have been perfect during the golden age of air travel, which was dominated by props like the DC-3. It would have been equally at home on the early jets like the 707.

I, for one, miss everyone dressing up for air travel. If I'm traveling for business, I still wear a suit. I can understand dressing casually if you're on vacation, but I really don't understand the whole travel in sweats for a business trip. For one thing, you never know who you're going to meet, and for another I think I'm treated much better.

My grandma was a flight attendant back in the day, and I love her stories about flying being dignified. I love this blog post about flight attendant fashion through the decades:

Oh yes, that's definitely awesome. How about just the concept of getting a big name designer to design the uniforms? The uniforms today seem so uninspired. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to describe the uniforms for any airlines today, at least in any detail.

My favorite story about air travel was my grandma when she first went to see my grandpa for the first time (I never established how they met) he was still the sheriff in Pierre, SD, so she wore her best outfit and flew to Pierre, but he got called out and wasn't able to make it to the airport to pick her up for a few hours while she sat wilting in the waiting room of the airport looking all prim and proper in her best dress. I mean, the story kind of makes you go "awww," but I think it's kind of romantic -- not just the waiting for her beau sort of thing, but the whole idea of a beautiful young blond woman wearing her best outfit to go flying, even to the backwoods of South Dakota.

This is great - very Mad Men - I'd wear it.
