A little late, but here are some pics from my recent trip to DC/Baltimore to celebrate the 4th.  I love going up to DC-and especially Georgetown-for the SHOPPING but this time I was there with my boyfriend so unfortunately there was no shopping to be had :( Instead we did the whole cheesy tourist thing and hit up the monuments and museums.  We saw a really cool 3D IMAX show at the Museum of Natural History about deep sea creatures (which kinda put a damper on our plans later that night to eat at a Seafood restaurant....).  The next day we went up to Baltimore's Inner Harbor for a day which was really beautiful.

Anyway, I definitely recommend a DC/Baltimore trip!  Just be prepared for ridiculous parking fees (we paid $18 for 2 hours parked in Baltimore...).  Girls from the 'burbs like myself are used to parking for free!

Oh and if you do head up to Georgetown for a shopping adventure be sure to hit up the Annie Cream Cheese Vintage Shop.  My sister works there--ask for Emily ;)

What I'm Wearing:

Day 1
Arden B. Burnout Sharkbite Tank
Arden B. Bandage Mini Skirt

Day 2
Charlotte Russe Tiered Linen Tube Dress
Michael Kors Handbag

I put this outfit together from the Cora Boutique closet for our Father's Day Dinner (Dad was playing golf all day, of course).  I love how this top has ruffles on the racerback.  From the side it kinda looks like spikes on a dinosaur's back--Strange, but weirdly adorable.  The shoes probably weren't the most appropriate but my dad gave up trying to control what I wear a long time ago lol...

I love how the light shines through the sleeves on this sheer top. Unfortunately having any kind of style in the summer here is pretty much impossible—so.freaking.hot.  Jean cutoffs will definitely be my summer uniform!

Believe it or not I actually found these gladiator wedges at Chadwicks after not being able to find the Nine West Heech sandals in my size ANYWHERE!  The Chadwicks wedges were advertised as 3" which is not high enough for me but the reviews said they were much higher so I took a chance and they definitely are 4".  Although I shouldn't really complain since they were super cheap I think I'm going to exchange them for the black color since the Cognac color I ordered turned out to be more orange than brown....

What I'm wearing:

Sheer Nicole Boho Tunic, $34.50 at http://www.shopcora.com

Cutoff Shorts, $19.50 at http://www.oldnavy.com

Gladiator Wedges, $34.99 at http://www.chadwicks.com

I picked out this look for my lil sis to wear to her Sadie Hawkins dance on Valentine's Day.  I like the mix of edgy + romantic.

Who know's what she'll actually wear though.... she's definitely got a habit of spending lots of money on a dress and at the last minute she'll end up wearing one of her friend's old dresses instead.  Can't blame her, I've done it...  Or I'll try on like 10 different outfits and then end up wearing the original one I had on in the first place!  Half the fun of going out is the getting ready part anyway ;)

The skirt is actually not leather, it's the same kind of material as liquid leggings.... so I guess you'd call it a liquid mini?

After watching a recent 60 minutes where they kept 2 groups of monkeys in tiny cages for their entire lives (which is like 27 years in a CAGE) and overfed one group and starved the other I am just so disgusted with animal testing.  Even though that has nothing to do with fashion, I've decided to try to become a more ethical consumer as far as my fashion choices go (not like I can really afford much fur or leather anyway, but still...)

Blouse:  Found in mom's closet.  had to cut out some hideous shoulder pads!
Skirt:  Cora
Shoes:  Cora--I am in LURVE with these shoes.  Stud heaven <3

Influence: Mary Kate...
Okay, I admit it -- I'm fascinated with Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen.  I just can't help myself!  So of course when I found out they would be releasing Influence, their new coffee table book, I knew I had to have it.

From the publisher: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, known around the world for their individual, unique style have emerged as two of our shared cultures most influential women. In the pages of Influence, Ashley and Mary Kate take readers on a journey through their celebrated young lives, pausing to reflect on what has helped shape them into who they are today. Influence is filled with never-before seen photographs from the girl's private collections, pages of original material by MK and Ashley, and interviews with some of the most influential tastemakers in the world.

The girls will be on Oprah's "Young Millionaire Moguls" episode today to discuss their new book (Click here to view a sneak peak of the episode!).  I know I'll be watching ;)
