Low to ground, long in body and short of leg, with robust muscular development; the skin is elastic and pliable without excessive wrinkling. Appearing neither crippled, awkward, nor cramped in his capacity for movement, the Dachshund is well-balanced with bold and confident head carriage and...

Fun seeing them running around.

:D I ♥ Doxies, I'm getting one the day I move out. Well, maybe the day after.

If the dog is mostly indoor, I would probably go with a smaller dog.

My family has a dachshund and he's super sweet and a great indoor dog :)

My little sister got a miniature dachshund last christmas. She's a sweetheart, and very loving. Plus, she can't reach the table.

i love dachsunds

If it is going to be mostly indoor don't get the retriever. They have tons of energy. Wiener dogs rule! Although I do love boston terriers too. If you live in a place where your dog will have to go up and down lots of stairs you shouldn't get a dachshund since it is bad for them to walk on stairs.

boston terriers tend to have a good amount of health problems, and depending on the size of your home/yard a golden retriever might not get enough space for exercise. dachshunds are great if you raise them to be friendly as puppies, otherwise they get really aggressive/territorial.

i would suggest a westie! they don't need an outrageous amount of exercise and are generally great dogs. they're the perfect size to be smallish but not have the health problems that usually come with small dogs.

Indoor? This one. Indoor/Outdoor? The Golden Retriever.

This breed are great don't let their size fool you. :]

You can take him to the races!!

it's soooo you!

if this doens't work out, i have a 14 yr old westie available :)

are you crazy???!!!?? a golden retreiver is the opposite of an indoor dog!!!! they enjoy being inside but you can't think that that would be healthy for the dog! my grandparents and parents like the duchshund breed, its good for single people who are just making their way in the world or couples who have not kids in the house. make sure it doesn't eat to much because that could damage the spine and seriously injur it.

:D

The other ones need to be outdoors and will kick your butt. For indoor get a short haired dachshund.

We could have our own daschund derby!! :) i love golden retrievers too though... if big, get golden, if small get dachshund.

my sister has a doxie and he is a great indoor dog.( well puppy)

if you get this -- PLEASE do keep it inside. lol! ;)

and i dunno about the boston, but retrievers like being outdoors.

golden retrievers are really active, so they wouldn't be too great as indoor pets. i don't know much about boston terriers, but my friend has a dachshund. it is cute and gentle and is great indoors.

They are the cutiest dogs ever.............

if you're really serious about indoor mostly probably this one --please check out the aspca shelters too.

These are great indoor dogs

A dashshund is an amazing indoor dog. If you aren't going to be home for many hours, just set out a doggy pad, and he'll use it! Dachshund's are friendly and sweet. They make great pets!

they dont shed as much and enjoy sleeping =] lol

this dog is very cute ^_^

this is good for indoors

The Boston Terrier is a lively, highly intelligent, smooth coated, short-headed, compactly built, short-tailed, well balanced dog, brindle, seal or black in color and evenly marked with white. The head is in proportion to the size of the dog and the expression indicates a high degree of...

I had a big dog for a while and they get bored being mainly inside dogs a lot of the time. My cousin has boston terriers and they love hanging out with her all the time.

We wanted a Boston, but read that they tend to have wild streaks where they have lots of energy. Because of this, we opted for a French Bulldog. He was more expensive, but we wouldn't trade him for anything. I don't think a golden retriever would like the small confines of an apartment. The weiner dog would probably be fine in terms of space, but they tend to be pretty yippy. I'd suggest looking at the AKC site. They have all sorts of information on pretty much every dog imaginable.

Also, if you're looking at puppies and basing your opinion on how cute it is, stop and make sure you look at an adult too! Every puppy is cute, but not ever adult dog is...

Either this or a Dachshund, as I hear Golden Retrievers are better outdoor dogs.. I picked Boston Terrier just out of personal preference. :)

I honestly don't know anything about boston terriers, I'm just going by the adorable factor. My boyfriend has a dachshund and it has the personality of a pillowcase.

I'm kind of biased because Boston Terriers are my very favorite breed but I think out of the three breeds you picked, they're absolutely the best suited for apartment life (although I've not one of those having-a-dog-in-an-apartment-is-cruel nazis... I firmly believe a dog that lives in an apartment and is well-loved is better off than a dog with a huge backyard but its owners leave it alone outside all the time). But I digress...

Anyway, Bostons are relatively quiet (the females, especially), so if you're worried about a barking dog annoying your neighbors while you're away. They're smart, don't need constant attention and friendly with people and other dogs. On the downside, they shed more than you'd expect from a shorthaired breed and they can be drool-y/gassy.

Dachshunds bark a lot and generally don't take to training as well. They're stubborn. They also have a bit more of a "doggy" odor than some other breeds (which some people don't mind but it's something to consider if you're going to be sharing close quarters with one, haha).

Goldens are great dogs, although I'm not sure if they're best for apartments just because they're pretty active. But if you've got the time and energy to take them out everyday, I don't see why you shouldn't have one. :)

These guys are awesome.

they all have positive and negatives. Goldens shed like crazy, and Dachshunds tend to get spinal problems. I would go with the Boston.

I HAVE ONE OF THESE!! PERFE
CT LAP DOG! beware they fart though! but perfect little doggies!

This breed is supposed to have an excellent temperament, and make good companion dogs. Their size makes them good dogs for living mostly indoors. Retrievers need to run arround more. Dachshunds are also good, but they can be territorial.

They look like cute little monsters. And its hair won't get all over your clothes/ couch.

GR's are home wreckers and the little Hot Dog won't be able to fetch anything with that tiny mouth...that's no fun.

dachshunds aer also sooo cute but I remember a friend's used to hit his nose on the floor when he jumped down from the couch. they are soo high energy I think they would do better in a yard! Boston Terriers are sooo cuteeee and I see them all around Boston so they must do ok in apartments.

I like the retriever, but my friend growing up had a little black boston with a white tube sock coloring across his shoulder blades. He was easy to cuddle and didn't shed. The retrievers will shed a ton and their fur will start to get dog smell if you don't keep them well bathed & groomed. Dachshunds are just silly.

def not golden if mainly indors great dogs but need alot of exercise

boston terrier- the gentleman's dog. dacshunds have too many potential health issues and require frequent bathing because they tend to smell and the golden retriever sheds so badly-you'll be cleaning dog hair all the time.

Avoid the Dachshund, they're jittery little dogs that urinate at the smallest noises. Mutts really do make the best pets.

no experience with this breed but the retriever gets big, needs to run and the doxie can be a pain on the upholstry (eh, hem) if you know what I mean...

These guys are playful, sweet and don't grow to be enormous.

The Golden Retriever, with its intelligence and eager to please attitude, is one of the most popular breeds in the United States according to AKC® registration statistics. The working ability that has made the Golden Retriever such a useful hunting companion also make him an ideal guide, assistance...

Go for a big dog, not a yappy little dog, plus golden retrievers are great.

Please anything but a weiner dog...my future step-mother in law had 3 and they are heinous.

Can't go wrong with a golden retriever! I would say that a husky or a german shepard would be nice too :)

Golden retrievers are very mellow and loving-- good family dogs. Boston Terriers generally love their people but can be aggressive to other dogs. Dachshunds are very loving and playful, and also good family dogs.

They are all good dogs, just depends what temperament and size you want. Look at your local shelter first before going to a pet store or breeder!

best dogs ever!

so pretty and a lot of fun!

Really?! I love dogs! I've always love golden retrievers. So Lassie-esque.

get a puppy once is grown up just leave the mug outside..

good luck on pickup dog crap

We have an 11-eyar-old golden and she's been a *wonderful* indoor dog. This breed loves to please, they're *very* intelligent and laid back, and listen very well. That said, there is a bit of shedding to deal with but the personality and sweet disposition of this breed more than make up for that. Goldens do like some exercise so be sure and walk her/him as much as you can. Terriers and Dachshunds can be yappy and hyper, whereas the Golden Retriever is gentle and sweet. Okay, yes, I am obviously partial. Get the Golden. :-)

I have a golden...she's pretty retarded but I've had one before and he was great. They're great family pets, indoor they'll sit around and look cute, chew a toy, or even watch tv with you. But like and large dog, take them out for a run, throw the ball, they are ball dogs. Or sticks and rocks...

ALL OF THEM!!!!! Or the GR

You got to love the Goldens..... One of the best behaved, well trained - if you take the time to work with him - animals there are around....

Got to go with a golden retriever they are such loyal, fun, and loving dogs. Plus they are easy to train.

Goldens have such a wonderful loving temperament, but make sure you take your activity level and space into consideration: if you have a small place or don't want/have the time to let them get plenty of exercise every day, a smaller breed would probably be the better choice.
