Hazzah!
Tonight I performed at my school's Coffeehouse show!
Yes, tonight I was featured in 7 songs in both choir and as a soloist. Throughout the night, people enjoyed sitting in couches or on the floor while eating treats that the choir members provide as well as the entertainment for the night. The room was packed with +300 and the show itself was amazing!
Here are a few videos the show:

Yes, traveling back home takes that long.
Summer's ending for me, which means school is lingering around the corner (nooooooo! D:). I've spent an entire day flying from one half of the world to the other-ish. The route is Charleston > Atlanta > Amsterdam > Muscat, Oman. All the while, I only slept 4 hours or so (I hate sleeping sometimes because it messes with my body clock).
Anywho, for those who don't know where Oman is, it's in the Middle East on the Arabian peninsula. It's under Saudi Arabia, above Yemen, and across the sea for Iran. Though it's the country with barely anything in it to do, it is well ran and admirable when it comes to caring leadership and safety. Cheers to Oman (even though your internet speed does sucks sometimes)!
Surprisingly enough, I don't really have lots of photos of this place. It's a desert but there is some greenery and decoration. No building is above 4-6 floors and the temperatures are freakishly hot. There is NO way I'm going out in this weather unless it was my pool. Even then, I don't feel like risking having my feet charred from the hot pavement.
The winter is coming which means we might, just MIGHT, get rain. Whenever it rains, people update their facebook statuses in absolute delight while people in other places furrow their brows in confusion. Apart from that, the temperatures are at perfect summer level (and trust me, you don't want to know how hot a REAL Omani summer is like).
Now that I'm here, I have to adjust to some of the funny laws again such as it being illegal to have a dirty car. Another "law", or really a custom/respectful gesture, is to wear decent clothing. No showing of the cleavage, shoulders, armpits, and above the knees. In this case, I really miss home country America for me to be able to wear anything I want to wear regardless of how ridiculous or possibly showy (though to be honest, it's not that I wear revealing things, it's just that I like winter/fall wear and particularly peculiar items). However, this is just how it is, so I live with it.
I will say that I do more than some people who visit from elsewhere (and I'm specifically pointing out the Philippines here) who wear tank tops and nearly short shorts. Ugh! No wonder Filipinos get a bad image! Mind you, I'm Filipino myself so I get the strange looks sometimes because of this bad reputation.
Anyway, this was just my own status update.
Strange news from a strange land that most people probably never heard of.
I hope everyone's had a great summer though! And for those traveling, I hope you get home safe as well. :)
(ps: I apologize if my post seems to have a negative vibe to it. I'm not in anyway that angry at anything, I just like to point things out.) -
Oil & Vinegar
I finally got around to doing the photo shoot I wanted to do with my new DSLR camera. Out of the blue, I popped out of bed and just decided, "Hey.. I feel like dressing up today!" For the last few days, I've been laying about in bed doing absolutely nothing knowing that my summer is almost over. Bummer.
I really just put together random things I thought might look nice together. I've never actually had the chance to wear that specific shirt before, so I was pretty excited about that.
Overall, the photos turned out great! I only used one filter in these so they're all unedited photos. I wish I had a remote to click the button instead of me having to run back and forth. Eh.. it's probably a good thing though. This is the only form of exercise I've been getting.

list featurette : À L a M o d e [ 1 & 2 ]
C'est francais, oui?
The meaning for "la mode" is fashion in french. I thought it'd be a cute title for a list that consists of anything I personally would love to wear myself.
I've noticed that a lot of people created specific lists for object type (for example: dresses, shorts, shirts, etc.). For me, I'd rather group things by purpose of theme.
Within my first À La Mode list (I have several due to the fact that they fill up), I have:
Orientales
A small little segment with an east Asian style to it.
Literal Bodies & Eye Candy [tasters]
Here's just a taster of a new list I created just for such body themed items. I thought it looked a bit too morbid for a fairly quirky fashion wish list.
Misc. Accessories [1]
*A collection of accessories that I like, but have no particular theme for them to be. Accessories are my my favorite!
Umbrellas&Undercovers
Such fancy umbrellas! I had to include it, ya know?
Jeans
There are so many pants in the world that are extremely similar. I wanted to pick a few that had something quite unique about them that sets them apart from the ocean of jeans.
Cute-ness [1]
**Items in this list of items that hit a particular "Awww!" spot in my heart. In the first segment, I didn't separate accessories from the clothes. In the second, I did.
Wonderland
Here is only a snippet (so many out there!) of items I thought had a bit of that wonderland vibe to it. They weren't really character based. I'm currently working on a list based on the actual book characters (no peeking, please!).
Punk Style
I occasionally like my punk clothes. My favorite punk based style is the Japanese Visual Kei style which some of these items.
Party Dresses
A list of all dresses. These were usually things I thought might look great if I were to go to a prom or somethin'.
Meeting Our Formalities
Menswear femalewear. Tuxedo dresses, vests, and other things that could be used for office wear.
Under Garment... Stuff...
Some really cute bras and underwear.
While the first À La Mode list has more prominent American source, the second list is more balanced as most of the items are direct from Japanese and Korean fashion sites as well as American
In the second À La Mode list, I have:
Sticated Sophie
Here, I grouped together my more upmarket styles that I happened to come across. These looks have a more mature tone to them.
Cute-ness [2]
(refer to **)
Lolita Yukatas
I have an interest in lolita fashion. One of my favorite styles is walolita which mixes the traditional Japanese kimono with the lolita style. Genius, I say!
Misc. Accessories [2]
(refer to *)
' Lyke OMG, Shoes '
Who doesn't like a good pair of shoes? Quote inspired by Kelly's song "Shoes". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA
Music To My Ears
Headphones! Here are a couple I like for their visual appeal. Fact: My favorite brand is Skullcandy and I have more than one pair of Hesh headphones lying about in my room.
Hope my personal fashion lists might have peaked your interests.

[ Day 6 ]
F I N A L
The day was fairly normal.
When it was 2pm...
A famous fashion illustrator came to our class. His name was Steven Stipelman and he was a professor at FIT before. Actually, he taught my own professor. When he walked in, there was much adore from my professor's words, though I must say, with such a rank I'm not surprised. My professor recommended several books to us, and one of them was an 80 dollar Illustration book that was basically like a textbook by Mr. Stipelman himself. I bought it, along with everything else he recommended. I have no teachers and no advantage in the fashion industry, so why not self-teach myself with the right resources?
At 3:30pm...
We had a party in class. Many of us brought food, but not a lot of us ate. Most talked and looked at each other's works. I did none of the above. Instead, I worked on my Alice collage.
At one point, I felt like I needed to take a photo break from class. Of course, I took pictures of random objects and background. But hey, I think they're interesting.
I took a pic of my reflection through a display case. Like what I'm wearing in the middle pic? ;D
Oh! Red phone!
I couldn't help taking a picture of one.
(Retro Batman TV Show, man.)
4:00pm
Eh. My Alice in Wonderland display board... I didn't have the advantage of home supplies seeing how I was staying at a hotel, but I tried. The glue ran out at one point, so I put everything together without it, hoping I wouldn't move a thing to ruin the board.
I'm proud of it though. The work I put into it was a lot more than others, and I pay attention to detail and creativity too. I was about to throw it out later, but my professor said he'd take it instead. Interesting.
6-6:30pm
Saying goodbye.
This was the last picture of Aidan and I together in the hotel lobby. We were together everyday that I was there for. We had lunch together in between classes and went out to go about in the city or stay in the hotel to watch videos and talk.
But we'll see each other again.
8pm
Waiting in the airport for the plane. Before reaching out gate, mom and I bought several NYC shirts. I got two classic "I ♥ New York" shirts in white and black. When we sat down, I browsed through two of the Japanese fashion magazines I haven't read yet while eating chips.
Every now and then, I would glance at the red rose Aidan surprised me with after I went out of the building after finishing up my last class at FIT.
♥
So the first trip ended, but I'm sure there's many more ahead!

[ Day 4 & 5 ]
-Fairly uneventful in the sense of us going out-
During these two days, I had my daily routine of getting up and preparing for school. On the fourth day, I wore a Banana Republic dress that resembled what a uptown English archeologist might look like. My heals were lovely, new, and from Nine West. I know my feet have a hard time withstanding thicker materials, so I put pads on the back of my heel. Unfortunately, they happened to slip off and I got blisters. It was another roller coaster for me emotionally, but that's fairly normal I guess. None-the-less, it was quaint overall and we ate at a nearby pizza joint before, you guessed it, chilling out in our hotel room.
On the fifth day, my mom reserved boat tour in the evening. It was planned so that we could see the Statue of Liberty in the light and get to see the sun set on the city and watch it glow from all the lights. It would have been amazing if it weren't for the rain. Bummer.
To pass the time, I dressed up Aidan. He doesn't mind being my human doll. In the pictures above, I gave him my black retro frame glasses, my shirt (yes, he fit perfectly in it), and rolled his pants up. For fun, I got to tell him where to go for a photo op. I couldn't resist! > w<
My mom told us to meet her in La Chicas Locas. I nearly got a heart attack when I found out that he's never had Mexican food before. It never fazed me because I basically grew up in San Diego. But someone who's well traveled who never had Mexican food before? I dunno. I guess I just never thought that some people might not have had the cuisine.
He enjoyed his meal. Thumbs up, eh? Maybe it was more than just the good food that made it lovely. It was our first dinner date... sorta. My mom was there, but she watched the football game on tv the whole time. Ha! The date was over 453 days late but whatever. I forgot time when I was with him.
Active events may not have occurred, but its significance was well spent with someone who matters. Does doing everything matter..?
