I bought these shoes from Banana Republic. I was window shopping on their website and saw the Shey Sunburst Wedge. They were a little more expensive ($120) than I wanted to spend, but I knew I wanted them. I mostly have black or gold shoes. So the Flame color appealed to me, and it looked different than all my other shoes.
The first time I wore them, I kept admiring them in the mirror before I left for work. And on the way to work and at work, I could see other people admiring them and then complimenting them.
Now I wear them when my outfit needs something to "pop" and it always makes me feel more confident and happy about myself. There's really nothing like a good pair of shoes!
Before Ryan, I read all the time and loved to read. But a few weeks ago, I came to the realization that I haven’t read a real book in about 18 months, since Ryan was born. Shortly after he was born, I tried reading books, but with him needing to be fed every two hours, I would read a couple of pages, get caught up in doing something for him, and then forgot what page I was on, and would end up re-reading the pages again.
As Ryan got older, my attempts at reading would result in Ryan snatching the book from my hands and tossing it or trying to rip the pages out. Not good either.
I thought about it and decided to get myself an ereader, either a Kindle or a nook. I read the Consumer Reports and despite the poor battery life, I got the nookcolor. I mostly did because even though it was going to be my reader, we all know it’s also going to be Ryan’s whatever he wants to do with it toy. And I figure I can buy books for him too and I’d prefer them to be in color versus black and white. I also bought it despite Henry specifically saying not to buy it. I do what I like!
So what has the outcome been? I’m reading a lot more now, every chance I get, which is mostly on the train to and from work, it’s only two stops so it’s not a lot of reading, or when Ryan is asleep. He also loves to sit with me and have me read him nursery rhymes from a book I bought for him on the nook. He’s also discovered that there’s Pandora on the nook, so it’s another device that can play music for him.
I’m definitely happy with the purchase and happy that I am finally reading again. I’ve read about rooting it to get some Android apps and am considering doing that, even though it would void my warranty. But it sometimes does some buggy stuff like flip through the pages of a book non-stop even though I’m not touching it and sometimes it doesn’t react as quickly when I’m trying to flip pages or even to get to other options.
What books am I reading? Mostly parenting books, of course.
The only thing I couldn't do, that I tried, was to create a blogazine on Kaboodle. I couldn't slide the poll over from the right to the left.
But then 2011 rolled around and I wanted a more drastic/different cut. I asked my Kaboodle network of friends for suggestions and they did not fail me.
I decided on the Nicole Richie hair style. I went to my stylist with the pic above and she was excited I was doing something different. Since I was also going to get some highlights, she first started off chopping off about 5"-6" of hair, since it made no sense to highlight them if they were going to get chopped off. So there was no turning back.
After the dye was rinsed out and I was again sitting in the chair, staring at my shorter hair, I felt excited. This could be a good change.
I was really happy with how my hair turned out. I took a pic of it, but my living room has orange walls and I took it with my Blackberry camera, so the picture quality isn't great, but you can see the difference in hair styles.
I was worried about how my son would take it, but he barely noticed anything different. My hubby on the other hand was a little more surprised. I texted him the pic and his comment was that it was very aggressive of me to go that short. We've been together for 15 years, married for 7 1/2 years and I've always had hair well below my shoulders. He's just going to need a little more time to get used to the new me.
So what do you think? Like it? Hate it? Go shorter next time?
Thanks to all that gave me suggestions. I love Kaboodle!
Which one do you think would look good? Or let me know if there is another style I should go for. I have some other pics at http://www.kaboodle.com/janecool/hairstyles-w-bangs.html
I've made an appointment with my stylist for Saturday for a hair cut and highlights. I'm super excited!!
Some Updates
I've never really had short hair before. It's always been well below my shoulders.
My hair is pretty straight, most days I leave the house without blow drying it, just towel drying.
I did get my bangs too short during my last hair cut, so I won't be making that mistake again.
I'll definitely post a pic after my cut.
Another Update
I was all set to go today, but my son started throwing up last night, so he comes first. So I'm going to get the cut and some highlights next Saturday.
But I thought to surprise everybody, I would also give everybody a stocking stuffed with stuff. But my family has never done it before and neither has my husband.
I need some suggestions on what to put inside them. It would also be a great tradition to start with our 1 year old son.
I also need suggestions early enough so I can actually buy the products for all the stockings, somewhere between 12-20.
Help!
I'm not sure how short I will cut my hair. Right now it's half way down by back. I will probably cut around 4 inches off max.
Which style would look good on me, if any of these? I am open to other suggestions.
