just guessing. The oreily books are very solid and encyclopedic, but the missing manual series have a lot of tips to get you up and started. For Perl for example, I can never remember how to get started, but the code syntax I can look up. It's just basics that I forget.
CSS is pretty easy once you get the hang of it -- in fact, I learned how to write style sheets from viewing sources! You see, I used to have a very good website (being good at graphics also helps), so obviously you don't need a big, complicated book to learn how.
