Hello everyone!

How have you all been? I hope you guys are doing well. Still a lurker, but always a lover of fashion! I decided to update with a couple of recent looks.

I'm still working at my new job and the nice thing about starting this time of the year is all the special events! I was invited attend the company's annual christmas party, so in the left, that is what I'm wearing. Lately, my favorite brand is Mikkat Market and they stock the best stuff I've ever seen. Looks like high fashion, but at affordable prices! I want everything they have in my closet! There's a cute little story about this skirt on my lookbook link for that outfit.

The one on the right was taken a little couple weekends earlier. My sister bought me that FP thermal and it's not only comfortable, but the color is amazing! Makes the little 80s girl in me squeal! In that picture, I'm wearing my Kaboodle necklace because it's still one of my favorites and it makes me happy to think of this site and all the great people on it :)

Otherwise, I am looking forward to the holidays because there will be a lot going on! Between shopping, family visits, and everything else in between, I'll definitely have more stories when I come back!

Happy holidays, everyone!

autumn updates.

Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since I've been able to post anything. I wanted to give you guys an update of what's been happening in my life.

September was the mark of our sixth year anniversary for my boyfriend and I! Yes, we've been together for six years! We meet at college through Myspace (who would have thought?) and the rest, as they say, is history.

Then, in October, my cousin got married! She currently lives in Chicago, so I RSVPed and my sister, my boyfriend, and I flew to Chicago to represent the West Coast! It was my first time in Chicago and despite the wind, I had a lot of fun. It had been years since I last saw my cousin, so I was really happy for her and happy that I got a chance to see her. The beautiful picture of Chicago in the middle was taken on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building in downtown from the women's bathroom! No joke. We had gone up to the lounge there to enjoy the view and relax. We didn't have great seats, but they weren't bad either. I excused myself to go to the bathroom and was surprised that the whole back wall of the women's restroom was a window overlooking Chicago! Everyone was snapping pictures in there, lol.

And now, I finally found a job! If you've been reading my blog, you would know that I finally moved out and moved in with my boyfriend in Los Angeles. My new job is as a Marketing Admin at a river cruise company. I started on Halloween, which was really funny because nearly everyone had shown up that day in costume! I'm stilling training, but everyone has been very patient and nice to me, so I consider myself lucky to work with such great people.

That said, I am still on Kaboodle, but I'm more of lurker; I try to comment whenever I can; I still read all the editor blogs; and update my lists. Busy, but not dead. Anyone that needs my immediate attention can always contact me through PM.

Hope you guys have a great holiday season and I'll tune in again later!

Thanks for reading! <3

Hello everyone!

Remember the last article I wrote on my blogazine? Kaboodle had asked me what inspires my style, and I couldn't think of a better role model in my life than my mother. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be who I am today. For those who missed out on the essay, you can find it here.

Shortly after, I received my care package from Kaboodle! It was bigger than what I expected and there were a lot of neat goodies! I want to say Thank You, Kaboodle for everything! I'm always happy at the opportunities to be a part of the community! You can find the details of the goodies at my personal blog here.

As many others have mentioned, the TeaSub is really cute! I've already used it a few times and it's a kick to anyone who has never see it before! Awesome and whimsical design! I'm also in love with YSL gloss! So soft with just enough shine for sophistication. Like a lux version of Rosebud!

Thank you again, Kaboodle!

the way to a woman's heart is in a shopping trip.

When I was young, my mother would often surprise me with something new from the mall: a new shirt, a bright skirt, or lotion samples. In her spare time, she’d go shopping and be thinking of me. Even up until high school, I still appreciated these gifts from her. I didn’t have a strong sense of style, even as a teenager; I’d be a typical jeans-and-tshirt kind of girl. I didn’t do a lot of shopping for myself back then, and my mother was more than happy to help. I liked the things she picked for me, proof that she knew me best, and I trusted her to not let me look lame. They weren’t expensive things, so no name brands for me, but it didn’t matter. My peers would compliment me on the stuff I’d wear from my mother.

When I got older, could drive, and had a paycheck, my mother took me out on my first shopping trip with her. It was like seeing the mall with new eyes. Sure, before I’d go with my girlfriends and we’d have fun, but it wasn’t like shopping with my mother. We woke up at nine-thirty in the morning, so we could be at the mall by eleven. Even now, I like to get up early in order to get my shopping on. I remember spending the day following my mother. I watched her look through the clothing racks, touching fabrics, and talking to me, always talking. We’d go to the dressing room where I learned that trying things on is free, so it’s a good way to try-try-try before you buy-buy-buy. It’s a good way to try on that one cardigan and find that the teal you thought you didn’t like actually complimented your skin really well. She taught me to be a smart, patient shopper. Usually, you can wait until the season is half over and things will go on sale. Keeping your eyes open: you never know what you may find on sale or not. And if it’s not on sale and it’s worth it, get it! It’s okay to splurge once in a while and especially on the good classic stuff that you can keep in your closet forever. Get fabrics that you like, in cuts that flatter, and colors that make you happy. Even now, while I love Kaboodling and shopping, nothing beats being there in the store with my hands between the racks, feeling the fabrics. I have sensitive skin, and I like being in clothes that I can wear all day no matter the occasion.

I found myself looking forward to these shopping trips more than I did with my girlfriends. We’d usually go on the weekend, start in the morning, and in the car, we’d catch up with each other, talk about the past week. I had started to build the foundation of my closet then, buying things based on my mother’s advice and my own inspiration. I was happy discovering the things I’d like to wear. I didn’t stop there, I continued to read and study fashion, watching out for trends, and slowly stocking my closet with more clothes that I could wear. By lunchtime, we’d treat ourselves out, celebrating a good shopping done and our happy time together.

It was more than just a mall trip. It was an intimate time where a mother imparts her wisdom and advice about fashion, style, and love. It was more than just the clothes. Looking good in the clothes I wear empowers me and makes my mother smile whenever I do a little twirl in the newest maxi dress I bought in front of her. The shopping trips are what helped my mother bridge that gap between us and enabled us to talk woman to woman, mother to daughter. I don’t think I could have gotten to where I am today without her. Moving away to a different city three hundred miles away and starting out on a new life that I want to build with my boyfriend isn’t easy, especially when I don’t get to look forward to my mother’s home cooking now, but I’m not so easily intimidated! I’ll face life head on with my favorite heels and a great outfit because—come on, ladies—you know there is nothing better than when you dress up!

Hello everyone!

It has been a long time! I've been so busy, so that is why I haven't been able to sit down and compost a proper post. As some of you may know, I was featured as a Shopping Scout for this holiday season. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed this opportunity to be involved with Kaboodle! Then, they surprised me by offering an interview opportunity with my local newspaper to help promote it! Figuring that I had nothing to lose, I went ahead and tried it out! It was very nice, with a small Q&A over the phone with a photo opt the new day!

So here are the results of our work! [ http://www.modbee.com/2010/12/23/1483456/kaboodlecom-user-can-find-perfect.html ]
