By far the more adaptable/customizable of the two. Most "professional" bloggers swear by it.

can do so much more with wordpress on a hosted site. if you don't want to deal with web development & just need a simple blog, then blogger or tumblr.
If organic search rank is important, this is hands down the way to get the most with the least amount of work. You'll need to pay to have it hosted on your own domain name, but that's the only $ expense involved - everything else is time invested. Add a few plugins to make it easier.
The new version of Blogger requires a Google Account to access your blog's features.
Unlimited space for pictures and I think this is easier to start out with.
I haven't really used wordpress, but I know it has its upsides as well. Personally, I like blogger because it is tied to my gmail account.
It seems like more people have this one.

Blogspot gives you more creative freedom.
If you're a new blogger, go with Blogger. It's very user-friendly, plenty of bandwidth for photos {blog readers like lots of pics}, and plenty of stock templates and 1000s of free custom templates online to Google. Welcome to the blog world--have fun!
