  • What I wore recently:

Left: This amazing dress came from Apricot Lane and was a very special gift from boyfriend (next to me). Amanda & Holly to the left of him are two very good, very well-dressed friends.

Middle: I've been shopping a lot lately and it usually consists of tunics, sweaters, leggings, and giant scarves - oh and boots & bangles! Of course.

Right: This mint tunic from Pitaya has been a new staple! I really wish I would have made it out to their Black Friday sale. The gray boots are the Westbound from Bakers. The coat is from H&M. The leather clutch is from Retro 101.

    Hope you love! <3!
  • Balancing Miss Ohio Vintage, personal styling, random events, and my new office job has been challenging. I've focused on my career but made sure not to let my hobbies and other fashion-related interests fizzle out.

Soooo.... recently I guest-styled an Advanced Style inspired shoot for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. It was fun! Gloria, my client, was a total doll. She was 88 and more active than I am. I dressed her in a menswear inspired ensemble with just the right amount of glitz.

It was fun in and of itself, and I wouldn't have asked for anything in return. Just getting to meet Gloria and help her pursue her interests in glamming up her wardrobe a bit was rewarding enough. She even wrote a little narrative about her experience - stating that she had once tried to model as a young woman in Europe and had been rejected. She blamed her lack-of-interest in fashion on that experience, and proclaimed that by making her modeling dreams come true in a way, we gave new life to her personal style. You can see the photos here!

After it was all said and done, Debra Bass (Fashion Editor for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch) sent me an amazing box of makeup goodies! I came home to a package and pretty much squealed like a little girl on Christmas morning upon opening. I had been in dire need of a high-quality red lip, and foundation primer - neither of which I ever deem necessary enough to actually purchase. Of course, Debra sent me both of those things without evening knowing. I am the happiest girl ever!

Oh and can I just say... Lauren Mercier's foundation primer keeps my makeup on ALL day when it used to fade and blend and separate within just a couple of hours. Amazing! I strongly suggest you try it.

    What's your favorite makeup product?!

  • I've always been a jeans-and-a-tee kind of girl at heart... maybe I jazzed it up here and there, but truly I didn't stray far. Blame my 25 year old thighs, or my growing sense of personal style, but jeans are a rarity in my daily wardrobe, and dresses are appearing on the regular. I'm still modest in my general approach, so you can expect tights pretty much all the time. A good blazer and a great pair of shoes can make almost any dress work appropriate (especially with those tights) - and working in fashion marketing (yay!) it's important to be forward without being over the top.

Here are a few glimpses of my recent ensembles. Hope you love!

  • I've been away for so long it seems silly! But I've still been around - blogging for Heartland Underdog and Shoeternity.com & selling vintage via Miss Ohio Vintage.

I'm excited to get close to co-Kaboodlers... and maybe to rekindle some old Kaboodle relationships!

    Getting to the point....

I've been obsessing over accessories lately. I'm always into over-accessorizing, but usually find my jewelry at estate sales. Recently I've found pieces everywhere from Pitaya to Forever 21. I'm especially excited about this gold collar from Bakers. Amazing!!

And if you can call it an 'accessory' the peter pan collar is taking over my wardrobe. I've been a fan forever but lately I can't get enough! It's so mysteriously sexy, so demure in a way. I'm in love. I'm currently searching for the best detachable collars to add to my collection - let me know if you have a good tip!

    Glad to be back!

  • The Drink: Blackberry Basil Royale

-- A spin on a few classics including the famous Kir Royale made of cassis and champagne and the French Martini, made with cassis as well, and lastly the mojito, but sub basil and lemon for lime and mint.

    The Ingredients: Fresh is Better!

    5 Fresh Blackberries
    5 Fresh Basil Leaves
    2 Thinly Sliced Lemon Wheels
1/4 to 1/2 Oz. Cassis (Personal Preference)
2 to 2.5 Oz. Gin (Hendricks for a juniper-strong drink, G-Vine for something more mellow)
1 to 1.5 Oz. Dry Champagne (Prosecco works here as well, again personal preference)

Step 1: Muddle 2 ice cubes with 5 basil leaves and 2 lemon wedges in tin. Set aside.

Step 2: Fill pint glass with ice to top, add Cassis and Gin.

Step 3. Add blackberries to tin, shake with liquid in pint glass. **There has to be a lot of ice here, as you're not going to muddle the blackberries - shake this for about 5 to 7 seconds and shake it hard! Don't over do it though, stop at 7 seconds.

Step 4: Strain into glass and top with champagne or sparkle of choice. **You can also serve this over ice, but still strain it into fresh ice, leaving room for the champagne.

Step 5: Garnish as desired - Berries and Basil leaves are a nice touch, but a simple lemon wheel does just as well.

Enjoy your drink! This is a good one. Remember: For parties, Multiply your recipe by 5 and make in a pitcher. Serve with punch glasses or other small portion drinkware.

    Hope you like it!
