in Style and Fashion
Ok, I never post or blog about fashion but now I'm going to put my two cents in about the fashion/model industry. I understand that models often starve themselves to fit the 'standards' of the industry. I also understand that many women on this earth are simply and naturally very slender.
The silly thing is that I don't necessarily have a problem with having thin models on the runway (unless there is an underlying and harmful issue such as an eating disorder); the problem that I have is that there are so few bigger sized models.
Just as there are many thin women in the world, there are a great many bigger women, too. When these women look at pictures from a fashion show or a catwalk, they can't really see a variety of body shapes and sizes showcasing possible clothing options or ideas for the season. They see tiny tiny tiny and are disheartened, disgusted (with the narrow-minded designer, not necessarily the models), and/or pressured to become as thin. It's ridiculous. It's like these women don't even count in the eyes of designers.
Something is rotten in the state of fashion. Of course there are the people who say that women see those images and think 'oh, if I buy those jeans I can be as sexy as the model in the picture!'. Sorry to shatter the illusion prided by so many market experts but no one can be as 'sexy' in the same way as the woman in the picture because photoshop doesn't exist in reality. You can't suck away or tone 20 pounds of torso/arm/butt matter in 5 seconds without consequences in the real world. That crap costs serious money and scars and starts with L and ends with -iposuction.
Ok, rant over. Happy Halloween! :)

1. I am a very unforgiving person, and I don't think it's as much of a bad thing as I probably should.
2. Even though I'm not a vegetarian, I love veggie chik'n patties! Boca are the best. With cheese. mmmmm.
3. I have lots of little neuroses... I used to not be able to walk in bare feet on ANY bathroom floor unless there were rugs. I still curl my toes a bit whenever I have to walk on the bare bathroom floor.
4. Something that gets me really, really SUPER excited is to see the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. I've seen it three times so far and I've freaked out and taken a zillion photos. I'd love to become a Hotdogger! I wanna drive the Lil' Link!
5. I'm really bad with spoiling surprises. I hate when someone tells me that they got me something, but then won't provide me with any further information. I'm really bad about snooping to try and find out what they got me.
6. As much as I love buying stuff on eBay and etsy, I have a mild fear of selling. I'm always afraid that I won't pack something carefully enough, or that some weird freak accident will make the buyer leave me horrible feedback. I have a few things I need to sell, but I can't get over this phobia.
7. I live in the south but I hate humidity and hot rain. ewwww
8. I miss college something fierce.
9. Writing letters is one of my passions.
10. I'd love to be a nude model.
11. I am a die hard night owl. I've never been a morning person and cannot imagine that I ever will be one. I am amazed at people who can voluntarily wake up at 5 or 6 am.
12. I am in love with seafood. I could eat it every day and never get tired of it.
13. I have trouble saying the word "rural". I worked as a relay operator for 6 months, and secretly I feared having to say that word and being corrected and/or laughed at by the customer.
14. My dream car is the BMW Isetta. I would love to own one someday.
15. My favorite director is Tim Burton. I could watch a Beetlejuice/Edward Scissorhands/Pee-Wee's Big Adventure marathon 24/7 and never get bored.
16. I cannot eat lasagna. I've never been a fan, but once I tried it and got sick, and now I cannot stand it.
17. I'm obsessed with cleaning my ears.
18. I've been best friends with the same person since I was 8.
19. I suck at getting jobs.
20. Chai tea, bubble tea and V-8 Splash disgust me.

5 Random Facts
1. I don't partake of alkyhol. I'm a teetotaler. Haaaa, no, not really. I just don't care for the stuff. My husband, however, I encourage to drink because he gets really uninhibited and hilarious (imagine someone forming their hands into the hairstyle of Nomi while singing Lightning Strikes in a whisper).
2. I've become unhealthily obsessed with using vinegar and baking soda to clean everything. It's sad, really.
3. I've burned microwaveable Easy Mac.
4. Some of my favorite smells include the crease of my husband's neck and Coppertone sunscreen.
5. I used to horseback ride every week for about 12 years. I miss it so.
