    12 Beautiful Illuminated...

This is too cute - I don't have a dog, so I may be the last to know about these...but I just saw them on Girl from the Ghetto (who is of course running a giveaway). I know they're great for safety so people can see your dog in the dark - but the first thing they make me think of is a little doggie rave.

I just found out about this great company from The Girl from the Ghetto, who is hosting a giveaway of their bookmarks. Aside from being adorable, the bookmarks are made by mentally challenged adults and women needing to work from home, providing employment for them and a great reason for the rest of us to stick with paper books. There is a discount code for 25% off in the GFTG post linked above - in the midst of all the spending with companies that don't treat women or the disabled so well, consider doing a little of your holiday shopping with these folks who are trying to make a difference.

Anyone read this one yet? I read a review that makes it sound awesome - The Breakfast Club in Hell! I entered the giveaway, but this one sounds good enough that I might seek it out even if I don't win! Am I getting my hopes up too much?
  • Freschetta™ PizzAmore...
Ever since I read this article last week on Ecosalon, I've been thinking quite a bit about all of the pink products in stores this month. Cancer has touched my family in many ways, and as many of you know I have been involved with Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for many years. I love picking up pink and purple things to use in those events and my team's fundraisers - but I have started to question the assumption that every product promoting "awareness" is actually benefitting research, detection, or treatment. Freschetta seems to be using pink marketing for legit purposes this month, though - they are donating $1 for every package code entered at www.proudtosupportpink.com to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. You can also enter to win a special pink iPod with every code entered - and the company is also donating iPods to patients undergoing treatment for them to use during their chemo and radiation sessions. What do you think? Is this a reasonable cross-promotion, or more pinksploitation?

I first heard about this promotion on Girl from the Ghetto, and of course she is also doing a giveaway of a Freschetta prize pack.
  • Jane Fonda, 1957-Editione...
Like many of you, I grew up in the 80's - so when I think of Jane Fonda, aerobics are the first thing that springs to mind, followed by the Ted Turner years in the tabloids. I know she has done much more than work out and get married, but those are her trademarks of the last few decades. To correct my sad lack of information, I will check out "Jane Fonda: The Private Life of a Public Woman." There's a review and giveaway at  http://thegirlfromtheghetto.wordpress.com - check it out for your chance to win, too!
