Broke but Happy

Broke because I definitely spend way too much money.

As if there wasn’t enough pressure to look cute everyday at work with so many styling team members…WIWT blogs are now in full swing at the Kaboodle office.  Now, this is a GREAT idea and I think it would a lot of fun to document all of the terrific outfits that I see wandering around the office, but it’s terrifying to me because: 1) I’m camera shy, and 2) my usual outfit consists of a simple t and a pair of broken-in jeans, unless I take time to plan out my outfit the night before.

Thusly, I humbly submit to you my outfit from last Thursday…I think?  V-neck from C&C California (soo soft and I love the color!), jeans from 7 of All Mankind, and flats by Charles David.  Cutest flats ever, IMHO!  I loved these flats so much that I bought a back-up pair because the sole was tearing up really quickly…and I usually never buy back-ups of anything, much less shoes!

Latisse: New eyelash-leng...
Love the Long Eyelashes. Who's Your Doctor?

The makers of Botox apparently have a knack for turning medical treatments into cosmetic luxuries. Previously used as eye drops for treating glaucoma, the drug Lumigan is being repackaged into Latisse by these guys--and it's had some pretty amazing results in clinical trials. "...eyelashes typically grew 25 percent longer, 106 percent thicker and 18 percent darker."

My short, sparse, stubby eyelashes would definitely benefit, but since I'm on a frugal recent-college-graduate budget, I don't have the means to fork over $120 a month.  (A girl can only dream...)  Would you guys ever try this out?

Hailed by some fashion bloggers as the next big thing.....will this trend ever make it into the mainstream?  I believe it's been out for awhile now--I think it was first popularized during last year's fashion week. Reportedly this new pant shape will be making its appearance in H&M stores on November 13th as a part of the COMMES des GARCONS for H&M collection.

I personally hope that this never makes it past H&M, because I find these pants so unbelievably hideous!  Call me conventional, but I don't think it even looks good on the runway.  It looks like you took a dump in your pants...I think that the only reason why it's become anything worth mentioning is because it's so different.  Otherwise, I don't think this new shape really has anything to offer aesthetically besides its uniqueness.

What do you guys think?

One word: Versatility.

I never thought the day would come when I'd actually grow to be fond of American Apparel.  I remember when they first opened up, they were rather non-descript.  Basically what you could call the slightly eccentric, overpriced little cousin of Hanes.  Then I guess this little cousin hit puberty or something, because all of a sudden it became so insanely fashionable--a great place to pick up unique basics.  Unique basics?!  They're basic, and yet they're unique?  How freaking awesome is that?

What's even better is that they design their pieces to encourage their buyers to wear them in crazy, creative ways.  You think this is a scarf? How about a top instead, with a nice twist detail.  Dress? More like tube top or a mini skirt, if you so desire.

I wish I could upload all the pictures I have from AA to show you guys exactly what I mean, but...I don't know how to.  So these three will have to suffice.  They're really not the best examples of the outfits that you can create, but you can see the progression of changes the outfit goes through, so that's why I picked them.  Now, this is without accessorizing.  So imagine how different these outfits could look with different styles of jewelery, shoes, jackets, etc.

Dress, tank, and shorts of course are all from AA.

(P.S. Try the melange skirt as a top.  It's so hot.)
