First off - Im sorry the pictures are such poor quality. My camera was left in Las Vegas and ever since all I've had is my Iphone.
WIW - December 3rd - To a Toys for Tots Benefit Dinner
Dress/Tunic - Thrifted
Black Leggings - The Rainbow Shop
Brown Crochet Shawl Cardigan - The Rainbow Shop
Brown Boots - (A birthday gift from a friend) Burlington Coat Factory
Necklace - Target
The benefit (put on by local motorcycle clubs) raised a bunch of money & toys for the program which was awesome. I included a close up of my head because I just had my hair retouched a little blonder.
I hope everyones enjoying their Holiday month thus far!

My hair is one of the few things I don't mind maintaining & sinking money into. I'm constantly trimming, styling, dyeing, reworking etc. Because, lets face it, frizzy mousey brown hair never did anybody any favors. I just had it retouched for my birthday (which is this weekend..yay!), with a lot more blonde highlights and a chocolate brown low-light with the same tone "peekaboo". I also had a thin out as my hair was getting out of control again. I had my ends trimmed to as they were pretty fried from the constant straightening. I gotta say, I love that just been to the salon feel! Its a shame it never feels the same after you wash it!
Any-who, the point of this blog is that one of things I've never really thought about or paid much attention to, is the fact that for all I do to maintain my hair - I've never considered shampoo or conditioner. Which has probably gone a long way to helping my hair into the state my stylist has endearingly termed "Egg Fried Hell". I'm not sure what the egg part is supposed to mean....
-So I'm on a hunt. A hunt for the perfect-for-me shampoo & conditioner. I don't have a lot of cash to spend constantly trying new products, so this is going to be an as I run out sort of deal. Plus it will give some time for the product to make a difference on my hair (or not!). I figure if something isn't happening in the first bottle..chances are its just not going to happen.
All of this brings me to my point, which is simply, I'm not a fan of Bed Heads Self Absorbed Shampoo & Conditioner. While the orange citrus scent is refreshing & pleasant, the overall product itself I'm highly unimpressed with. I thought I would try it as I am a fan of the product lines manipulator, but this left a lot to be desired.
For starters the shampoo does not lather well. I had to use a lot of it, and a lot of water to get it to semi-lather, and unless I spend twenty minutes scrubbing my head (which we single moms with kids under 5 know is never a good idea!) my hair just simply does not come clean. Washing my hair should not be a battle of wills between me & my shampoo. Enough said.
Conditioner wise, it applied easily, but I just overall don't feel like its doing a lot for my hair. Its been about a month and If anything I would almost say I'm noticing more breakage. That being said, even if this conditioner were doing something for my hair, I would probably not purchase it again due to the shampoo being so awful. Yeah I'm one of those gotta use the matching set kids.
Overall..thumbs down Bed Head. Thumbs down.

Yay! Its here!
My postman delivered a package for me today, and upon seeing the shape I knew exactly what it was - my brand new, knee and spine saving piece of relief, also known as the "Aurorae Northern Lights Ultra Thick Yoga Mat".
I have recently gotten into a morning routine of a session of either Yoga or Pilates. Thanks to hardwood floors it came down to "Mat Up" or quit time. Towels & blankets resulted in sessions worthy of Tosh.0 (without the web redemption!) and without anything underneath me..well lets just say I've got enough bruises to play Dot to Dot and get actual results. Maybe a giraffe.
Anyway after its first trial (this morning!) I'm super happy with this mat! I spent about an hour trolling the internet looking for one that wouldn't break the bank but also had decent reviews. I have to agree with all the customer postings on this one. I liked the color options available, but I loved the color (Passion) of the red version.
It is very thick (5mm) but its soft, not hard like some thicker mats Ive seen, but kind of springy. Its fairly light to carry. The last picture belongs to Amazon, I put it up to show the texture. Its design allows it to have grip on the floor and also give your body some grip so you are better able to hold your poses. I also like how long the mat is (72'X24"). I'm 5'5, and am able to lay fully on the mat without hanging off on each end, which is something I find very annoying when borrowing mats. The site also explains how to keep it clean and bacteria free.
Eco bonus? Its made from Biodegradable material and is Phthalates and Latex free.
All in all...me and my knees are pretty happy.
Time to go drink some tea...Peace :)

I just wanted to take a moment to ask everyone to check out my talented friend Danielle's little store "Ella Enid" on Etsy. She hand knits & crochets beautiful scarves, mittens, hats, baby items, etc! Danielle takes custom orders, and charges amazingly low prices for her creations. The above pictured scarves are only $15.00 a piece. Those adorable infant purple Mary Janes? $10.00!
Her shipping is only $3.00 per item inside the US, and she only charges an additional $1 per item if you order more then one. She uses vegan yarn and will give you instructions on how to properly care for your purchase. Her items are well made and will hold up, I can personally vouch having known Danielle for about 9 years.
I'm ordering the gray window pane scarf above. I might pick out a yarn color and have one made as well, after all its not often you can get something custom made for such a low price. So please folks, if you get a second, check out Danielle's store..and if you order, remember to tell her Laura sent ya ;)

Its been quite awhile (again!) since I have ventured on to Kaboodle. I am loving the new design, and I cant wait to get caught up with everyone I've missed!
My kiddos are growing like weeds, my youngest, Xavier, turns a year old in 2 short days. Hes walking, saying a few words and making sure he gives Mom a run for her money. Hes already become my little trouble-maker as hes into everything! Benjamin turned 5 in June and started Kindergarten. Hes loving his new school and is enjoying learning his letters and numbers!
I am moving back to Oregon from Montana, I plan to be moved and settled by the first of the year. I'm currently visiting Cape Cod, MA for a few months to see an old friend and do a little work while I'm out here.
Anyway, I Just had a breast augmentation & lift (YAY!) so I'm back to Kaboodle to rebuild my closet as NOTHING FITS! I guess its time to get back to my old love..building lists with millions of items to drool over. .....;)
