Heeelloooo Kaboodle Family!
I have homework to do but wanted to share some great information! (Great to me, possible beneficial to you)
First, I've decided to do the POLAR PLUNGE! I'm registered and psyched up, but still hoping that I won't have to do the chicken dance last minute! Please donate to help the Special Olympics! If you're unfamiliar with the Polar Plunge you can read more about it here. A dollar or two would be great (and honestly, that's only how much I would donate)! And I promise to take a lot of pictures!
It's for my student veterans group, Vets for Vets, that I'm the marketing director for. We're small, but do what we can! Any ideas for a cool team name or what to wear???
Second, THANK YOU to anyone that took, shared, or even looked at my American Eagle Outfitter survey because we got RUNNER-UP in the competition! It was something like 48 teams, 600 to 700 students, nationwide! Ultimately, the school from their place of headquarters (is that even the correct way to say it?) won! Boo! I'm a little bitter - mostly because how much time (away from the fam. when I should have been with them) and effort I spent on the project. But I'm (somewhat) happy for them. It would suck for any team to get that far and not win....
Anyways, AEO flew my team and I to their headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA where I got A LOT of discount codes. "20% off your next purchase at AE or Aerie, Valid 1.12-2.27". Let me know if you want one! (you'll have to donate a dollar for the Polar Plung ;P... just kidding. Seriously)
Pictures of our trip to AEO HQ to follow!
"heart",
Shari

Will someone try the new Kaboodle Together feature with me? I want to see what this this is all about and it's capabilities.
Try out the new @Kaboodle feature with me: http://i.samesurf.com/e/4506
Kaboodle amazes me, always keeping me on my toes and rolling out with new things... In fact, one of the social media class being taught here at University of Wisconsin looks at the "best in class" and Kaboodle is one of them! How cool is that?!

OPI Nail Lacquer in Moorea Morning Mist
Maybelline Express Finish Glitter in Copper Chick
I'm pretty sure everyone into nail art probably already knows how to do this: Cover nails with a solid color. Glitter by applying glitter nail enamel lower and lower on the nail with each executive application.
I had split up my nails into 4 different sections, leaving the one closest to my cuticle with no glitter. However, I wouldn't recommend doing that with this particular glitter nail polish. The Maybellin Espress Finish was so thick that I had to be very careful as not make my nails look like it was completely covered in glitter to begin with. If you do use this nail polish, I would recommend doing 3 sections, leaving the one closest to your cuticle with no glitter.
... Perhaps, the nailpolish was too old? As I am at my mother's and she has a lot of really old polishes. But the OPI polish was really old (as the labeling stating the color was changing color), but it applied as smoothly as I would expect any new bottle of OPI polish to apply. :)
Thanks for looking! and Kaboodle on. :)

Have you heard? Facebook and Moo have teamed up to give us free business cards. The catch is that you have to be using the "new" FB timeline. I know this is bothersome for some, consider how much they dislike it, but you can always change it back afterwards.
Find details on how to get yours here! But hurry, these are only available to the first 200K!
I'm out of town and haven't been able to look at mine that were delivered to my home. But I've heard from others that they are pretty good quality.
Good luck and Kaboodle on!

Don't Bet on the Prince: I've only read the first story and it made me cry! (Side note: my doctor called me a couple of nights ago saying my brain is making slightly more of a certain hormone that is normal - might be the reason I've been emotional the past few years! So, if you don't cry, it's probably bc I'm an emotional basket case).
My daughter, five years old, was able to follow me reading it to her pretty well. And we were able to have an intelligent conversation about it. I look forward to reading the rest with my daughter and seeing what she thinks of the different situations presented in it. Though I haven't read the whole thing, I already, and definitely, recommend it to any girl - young or old :).
It's a collection of short stories and is about 270 pages (much shorter than I had expected - I was expecting 1,000 for a collection of stories, but this may have been skewed by a Hans Christian Anderson course I just took where his collection of works was well over 1,000 pages). It's not all stories though: an end of the chunk is an analysis of fairytales and the female aspects in them. It was written by a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor. Though, I haven't read that section of the book yet, I've had to read some of his work and it's very deep and sometimes hard to understand. So I wouldn't recommend getting this book if that was the majority of why you wanted to read the book - for the analysis.
I've had my eye on this book for a while and found it at my school library. As you know, once in a while I'll go into a rant about society's pressures on girls and on how some people raise them - this was recommended to me bc of one of them :).
The Paper Bag Princess: This is one of those books that make you think "Yeah! I'm a girl!" Though it's a picture book and pretty short (as they are) you root for the root for the princess and despise the prince.
I kept on hearing about this and finally looked into it when I took my fairy tales class and the professor mentioned it. I found a YouTube "movie" of it which really got my daughter interested in the book. So much that it inspired her to be "The Paper Bag Princess" for this last Halloween (no pictures, but I'm going to make her dress up like it again so I can take pictures!).
If it's not a "classic" children's' story right now, it should be. I find that not many know about it (one lady though my daughter was "recycling" when we were out and about, and many had to ask what she was - boo!) - so tell your friends about it! I think friends of the female persuasion and people with little girls will find it particularly entertaining (inspiring?).

A few things:
1. Happy New Years!... But isn't this the year the Mayan's predicted would be the end of the world? Have you prepared at all? We've put a couple of kits together with some essentials. But this isn't the most exciting topic for most and can be talked about later...

2. The Rose Bowl 2012: Congratulations to the Oregon Ducks. I'm not a big football fan but call Oregon home but attend University of Wisconsin. I think it's sad that the badgers lost another Rose Bowl but can't get over the Ducks' pewter helmets. I thought they looked pretty fly but the rest of the uniform pretty cocky. Looking at some photo campaigns my opinion looked justified, but then I realized it was a Nike campaign (read and get a chuckle from this and it's comments here). Their helmets are still really cool. You can see more of what I'm talking about here.

3. Toms is coming out with ballet flats! You can sign up for notification when they actually become available here (sorry if this is old news to you, it's new to me as of a few days ago). I'm happy that they're venturing into more stylish areas. Unfortunately, I'm always telling myself that I'll buy some cheap shoes and send them somewhere, but know that I probably never will. Toms offers the convenience of doing everything involved with a shoe purchase for myself.
