Hello all!!
I'm Mina, my needs are basic. Love, shopping & good living! Hee hee. I joined this site because of a contest but I hope to have some fun too compiling lists & meeting friends! <3
Little things about me/Personal style mottos:
-I like trends but I'm not trendy so to speak. I buy what I like, if it happens to be popular then great! You should never apologize for what you like. Trust me, all those closet Spice Girl fans were singing praise when they came back & I was still playing my CDs from 13 years ago! LOL
-Wear what flatters you, not someone else. After all it's your body.
-It's not always the clothes, it's what you wear with it!! I try not to buy alot of prints that dont go with everything. Basic, bold solids are key & you jazz it up with accessories. They can change your outfit in a wink.
-Get GOOD shoes, meaning support. You need a good foundation or you fall apart.
-Every lady should have a basic uniform in their closet. A white button down shirt, black pants/skirt & black shoes. You never know when a job interview or an event pops up & you need a good outfit. Black & white NEVER goes out of style & by using accessories, you can easily make it dressy or casual.
-Jeans can be dressy & I dont care what critics say, I'll wear wide legs & flares forever!!
-You can never have too many purses!!
-My favorite color is purple but I love wearing red, dark blues, silver, gray, & pinks.
-I shop online more so than stores so I can get the length I need. I'm tall (5'9) & not many stores will carry long pants. If you do need them though, New York & Company is the best! They were one of the first stores I've seen that will have you size plus LENGTH! Now I dont have to buy pants a size up to make them longer.
-Check for coupons online! You find secrets you never see in stores. Sometimes too a store may have online only sales & you do the environment a favor by buying at home!
-We're in a recession so right now I'm strictly wear n' wear. I havent brought anything requiring a dry cleaner in almost 3 years. It kinda sucks but I'm a college girl recovering from illness so I need my nickels & dimes!
-If you buy fine jewelry, invest in simple, classic pieces you'll wear over time instead of something big & gaudy you wont really wear. Sterling Silver is love!
-EBAY!! Just becareful. A size 12 here is way different in Europe & Asia so google a size convertion chart before buying.
-Go generic. No seriously. Labels are good but most of the time you end up paying for the name. Especially in cosmetics. While it's true you get what you pay for, drugstore brands are often the same if you compare ingredients. I'm half & half. I use drugstore brands & buy up when I have the money. A thing alot of people dont know is that most big company subsidiaries are drugstore brands!
-When i doubt, buy gift cards.
-With formal wear, buy what you may use again, unless of course its your wedding dress! ;)
-People of color CAN wear pink & red. You just need the right shades.
-Boots can go with anything
-Same with Mary Janes!
-I still love backpacks & use them often
-If nothing else, invest in a good make up remover & eye cream!
-Max Wear Lip color by Max Factor is the BEST!! It's the only long wear I've used that wont dry out you lips & the colors rock! And it's in the Drugstore! ;)
